Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is one of the must-visit places on the Mendocino Coast. The historic lighthouse has been completely restored, including its jewel-like fresnel lens. There is a gift shop/museum on the ground floor which loans out binoculars to watch the whales as they migrate north and south.
Don't miss the small salt water aquarium with live abalone, anemones and starfish. There are not many places like this, with hundreds of acres of ocean front open space. There are overnight cabins you can stay at, and then (and only then... )you get to drive out to the light house! Restrooms are clean near the parking lot and also out by the light house. They have a nice presentation inside the gift shop describing the history. Make sure to see the little museum inside the lighthouse keeper cottage its period dated and very lovely.
