The Grandfather Tree is a majestic coastal redwood located at 779 US-101, Piercy, CA 95587, just south of Garberville and near Richardson Grove State Park. This ancient tree stands approximately 265 feet tall, with a diameter of 24 feet and a circumference of 55 feet, making it one of the widest coastal redwoods in the world. Estimated to be over 1,800 years old, the Grandfather Tree offers visitors a chance to connect with nature’s grandeur. The site features a gift shop offering handcrafted redwood items, souvenirs, and local products. Additionally, the area includes unique photo opportunities with redwood carvings and a bark teepee. For those traveling along the Redwood Highway, the Grandfather Tree is a must-see attraction that embodies the timeless beauty of California’s redwood forests.

Awesome roadside attraction for giant tree lovers. What can I say other than the tree is massive. Also, there is a decent gift shop next to it that has a lot of neat things to buy to commemorate your visit. They don't have a penny flattening machine though but there are plenty of stickers, magnets and postcards that are good substitutes. This won't take much of your time and is worth stopping in to check out whether you just need a break or not.

We did not get a chance to go to the gift shop but seeing this wonderful tree was great! It is truly magnificent. I can't wait to come back and spend more time and check out some of the surrounding businesses. If you're in the area, I strongly suggest you stop and see this tree, it is a great photo opportunity.
