First want to say we were here for the Ft Worth Greek Fest. I'm not upset with my experience here. Just have some insight from having been to the same GreekFest in another city for 14 consecutive years. My observation of this event is that, while it's a great fundraiser for hopefully a good use of these funds for the church, it's not run very well for having been done for so many years.
I understand that this festival has been held here for a good number of years. Much in the same way every year. It also seems that if this is the case, they would've figured out a better way to run some of their food booths. It is very disorganized and those working the event don't seem to see this or care when questions are brought up. There should be a better and clear distinction of where the lines are for each designated "line" area.
It's a small event with decent number of people coming out hoping to enjoy Greek food. The weather on the night we went was nice and chilly so it wasn't uncomfortable in that way. However, after holding this event for many years, there should be an understanding of which food lines are the most popular. With this in mind, there should be appropriate prep and equipment in place.
In the 45-minute (not that long line) line we waited in for some fried food, we were told we had to wait for the gyro line to get their side item first before we get ours. Why? Because apparently "the other line is a longer line" according to the vendor worker. This is vendor's opinion even though they were not the one standing in line to know this. This is even though we were IN THE LINE for fried side foods. I will add, when we got in line it wasn't that long, it just took this long to get our food because of this "side serving" of another line at the same time with ONE fryer.
We understand that working such an event is not easy. I've done such events for my churches over many years as well. But when you've done this for as many years as this place has, you would know that you need more than ONE fryer for a food item that's highly favored at...
Read moreThis is only my second time to this church. Being married to a Russian Orthodox, it has been really fun to see the Greek side of the equation. This church was host to a training class for area churches. The church and staff went out of their way to make sure all were welcome. Rich in history and theology, you will learn and enjoy this church. It is best to visit during their Greek Festival! The food alone is worth your time. I think this is usually done in the fall. For the very best in Greek hospitality and Orthodox Theology, visit...
Read moreThe place to be today is at the 55th Annual Greek Festival! Standing in the long line to order lunch was well worth the wait. Enjoyed learning more about the Greek Orthodox Church and watching the dancers. There is no admission charge so this event is truly open to all! Park as close as you are able. Parking offsite at the High School is a 10 minute or less walk away or a quick...
