minus 1 star for a couple unexpected things: i booked online and was assigned one person but ended up having another. i overheard the original personās name mentioned so she was there, just working on someone else. the massage i got didnāt match the description on the website. it was still good! just not what i was expecting AT ALL. either the description needs to be updated or staff communication needs work.
long, overly detailed review below, mostly intended for first timers like me who didnāt know what to expect š
my mom suggested this place and it has great reviews so i went online and booked the destress (back and shoulders) massage. thiparpa is located in a small plaza with ample free parking. upon entering, you leave your shoes by the benches and switch to indoor slippers if able but socks are ok too. the room i was in had a step to go up and curtain doors and walls. i didnāt hear much conversation, just calming music and a relaxed patron snoring lol thereās a plush floor mat and pillows to support your head and feet. i was given loose pants to change into and removed the rest of my clothes and placed it in the provided bin. remove jewelry and put your hair up before lying down!
while face down, my feet, legs, butt, back, shoulders, arms, and neck were worked on, some moments through a sheet and some directly on my skin with oil. before turning over, the massage therapist wiped off the oil with a hot towel. while face up, he did my shoulders, arms, neck, and head and a bunch of stretching and twists on both sides too, like holding onto each othersā wrists and pulling or stretching my arm one way and lower body another š„Ø it ended with me sitting criss-cross and more stretching. he did a great job of maintaining my modesty, which i appreciated since when i sat up there was a crack in the curtain door. the pressure was intense but welcome and he did check in with me to make sure i was ok.
i am still unsure if i really got the destress massage since it appears that i received aspects of a traditional thai massage. iād suggest the website descriptions get updated to give a proper preview of what the massages entail if this was intended. or if i received the wrong massage, then i hope communication between staff improves. despite the unexpected, it was great and intense and a step to getting my body to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo ALL people considering ANY THAI, THAI COMBO, OR SWEDISH MASSAGES, please consider this place!!! All the massage therapists I have had the wonderful pleasure of being treated by have been nothing but awesome. When it comes to understanding the mechanics and true workings of muscular aches and pains, as well as other disorders that occur as the sequelae of untreated musculoskeletal conditions, the intelligent massage therapists at Thiparpa Thai Massage in Foster City, CA are the personnel you should be visiting. After reading some of these reviews, I could not believe how much progress people have made coming here. However, after doing my own due diligence in this personal commitment to alleviating my own body issues, I too now have the wonderful pleasure of saying that my neck and lower back issues have gotten TREMENDOUSLY BETTER after dedicating myself to going at least ONCE A MONTH (which I recommend to be the minimum frequency). To shed more background on my own issue, I suffered a C4 herniation at the age of 17 while performing barbell back squats. Little did I know the various lower body injuries I racked up throughout the years until my present age of 31, would contribute to issues like anxiety and even sleep apnea!!! Since visiting Thiparpa Thai massage about two years ago now, combined with my own research with various stretches and flexibility work at home, I can confidently say that my posture, breathing, and core strength have assumed a level of performance than all my younger years combined. Don't believe all the reviews you see here? Commit yourself to do your own due diligence at home by stretching and understanding the basics of musculoskeletal conditions and visit Thiparpa Thai Massage, you will NOT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI rarely write reviews, but after years of incredible experiences here, I felt compelled to share how truly special this place is. I came in with chronic back pain and had tried everything--from physical therapy to chiropractor -before finding this place. From the very first visit, I was treated with genuine care, respect, and professionalism. Each therapist I've worked with has taken the time to understand my body, listen to my pain points, and tailor their approach with a deep knowledge of anatomy and healing. Their combination of Thai techniques and therapeutic pressure has not only brought me lasting relief but also helped me regain mobility I thought l'd lost for good. The space is calm, clean, and welcoming. The staff are warm and attentive, and I always leave feeling both physically and mentally lighter. The owner in particular has gone above and beyond to make sure I'm comfortable and progressing with each session and has recommended exercises I can do at home to prevent re-injury after each visit. If you're looking for true therapeutic Thai massage--not just a spa-like rubdown--this is the place. I can't thank them enough for the role they've played in my recovery. Highly recommend to anyone who values skill, compassion, and a holistic...
