Wife & I visited on 8/31/23 for their White Water Rafting experience and we had an absolute blast!!
We were at the tail end of the season so water was not as high as earlier in the year & rapids not as intense as some of the pics I see on their digital media presence but it was perfect conditions for two nearly 60 year olds.
If we still had young kids and lived in the area, I imagine we would be frequent visitors because they have so many actitivites to offer. Ropes course, zip lining, innertube lazy river type float trips, white water rafting, and sure there are even more options than what I mentioned here.
Facility is nestled at the base of Big Rock Candy Mountain...which surprised me because I never knew that children's song my kids used to sing was actually based on a real place.
As I mentioned before, the water was not real high but the rapids we experienced were perfect for us and were happy that the paddling was not constant and only needed when our guide directed us to do so.
Speaking of our guide, we feel lucky that Nathan just so happened to also be the owner of the company. He did a great job of educating two Mississippians about all the things that make Utah the uniquely beautiful place it is. There was lots of conversation & laughs between the 3 of us the whole journey which made our trip feel like it went by too fast.
We were also fortunate to have Lisa (Nathan's wife) randomly appearing on the river bank taking tons of photos that she gave us on a jump drive at the end of our trip (and yes, she does take great photos!!).
The entire staff is great to work with (especially Nathan & Lisa) and the facilities are great with a crew that obviously pays a lot of attention to the details needed to make their customer's experience a great one.
Highly recommend Big Rock Adventure to anyone looking for a fun outdoor adventure on the Sevier River & in the Big Rock Candy Mountain...
Read moreThis place was seriously a getaway dream come true! A hidden gem up in the beautiful unique mountains of southern Utah, with so many outdoor adventures to choose from, very friendly and kind staff, and no cell service so itâs a really good disconnect from the world. The stars were amazing at night, all accommodations were there for usâwe even asked the staff if they had any card games for us to play at night and they did!!
River rafting was probably the highlight. Our river guide, Nate, was really personable, funny, and had some great facts about the river and area and some fun shapes that he pointed out that the rocks and trees formed along the way. There were some bumpy rapids that we got splashed from, one girl fell off briefly, and Nate quickly scooped her back in, but other than that Iâd say itâs a very family friendly rafting ride. The river had some nice calmer spots and was quite long! Nate was a very good guide and kept us safe. It was my first time rafting and I felt very confident in his ability to navigate us and the overview/safety training at the beginning also gave me confidence. The river itself was pretty, was full, and the water felt nice and refreshing in the hot July weather. Rachel, another one of the workers was so helpful in taking our group picture and holding on to my sunglasses, cell phone and water bottle while I went on the raft and even took our picture again on my phone without me even asking so now we have some great pictures while we were on the river on some great rapids! Excellent customer service.
I wish we wouldâve done the zip line and ropes course because it looked really cool! But we filled our time with a hike to a nearby cave, doing the lazy river float, taking out some of their electric bikes(so fun) and going to some nearby hotpots (red hills hot springs) at night.
Such a fun weekend! I will go...
Read moreMy friends and I had a phenomenal time at Big Rock Adventure! My first day there I tried out the clever obstacle course, enjoyed the local diners and shops, and relaxed in the natural hot springs. The following day, I took a raft down the river (my tour guide always knew exactly what he was doing, telling me how many times I should paddle in which direction and pointing out cool images in the rocks and cliffs that surround the river). It was an exhilarating blast! The folks who picked us up at the end of the ride were efficient and friendly. After lunch, I floated down the gentler section of the river on one of their tubes, which was so fun! I wanted to do it over and over, but my time was limited and I wanted to use it to try out the zip lines, which proved to be the right choice. Zipping over the river and between trees was such a thrill and the guides were so encouraging and patient (I struggle with heights), so I was really able to get the most out of the experience. It wasn't super crowded so I was able to do one awesome thing after another. I can't wait to come back...
