Conventual Church of Our Lady of the Angels — Local services in Four Corners States

If you like a more ‘traditional‘ mass experience, then you might not enjoy worship at the Church of Our Lady. Mass here is a bit too ‘new age’ with the curious hand gestures when they sing and a band vs the beautiful sounds of an organ. The lead singer here has a beautiful heavenly voice, but it’s drowned out and conflicted by the beating of drum and cymbals.

It’s a much older crowd, very few younger people. Many of the people that go here are dressed more for a Hawaiian luau then a Catholic mass—shorts and flip flops :)

However, it’s a gorgeous property and very clean and modern church.

I gave it 3 stars because: 1) Any lower rating and I risk going to hell. 2) Not quite what I expected but, perhaps, if I want to mix-things-up it’s a good place to go. 3) Father can go a little deeper in his message.

I’ll probably be back but won’t be present as often. I’ll be saving my ‘juicy’ confessions for Pastor Kunkel at St. Thomas...

Peace and blessings to those who found this church and its services "not traditional" and therefore unsatisfactory for you. All Catholic Churches are foundationally the same in that they are established on core beliefs, even as they may keep or set aside lesser traditions that some may prefer. Mass is offensive here. The full band, people up swaying and moving their hands to the cantor, the universal prayers being offered to illegal aliens and people losing Medicaid. No iconography in the narthex, a tiny altar with a middling crucifix off to the side and not a trace of Catholicism inside the church. I don’t even things there are stations of the cross. And the Priests vestments were blue and green with rhinestones. I’m not a TLM purist, I attend a Novus Ordo every Sunday and this Mass at Our lady of angels...
