We did a 7:45am tour but they said we could go on the earlier tour 7:15 - hopped on that! This tour is apparently more strenuous than the upper antelope canyon tour but what we liked about going earlier is that it didnโt seem as crowded as when we came out (around 8:30ish). When we arrived at 7am (45 min prior - required) there were maybe 10 cars in the lot? 8:45 there was almost a full lot with packed tours heading out.
I love taking photos and that is what drove me to do a tour like this - our tour guide, Joe was very friendly, kind, and set a good pace where we didnโt feel too rushed. As a photographer, I could easily spend 10 hours there lol but I understand why they have to keep the pace to a certain standard.
She showed us fun photo angles, took our photos at certain spots, and made references to Microsoft computer backgrounds and famous photo shots such as those taken by Photographer, Micheal Fatali. Fun!
At $55 a person plus taxes and fees it was $140 for two of us and this is one of the cheaper tours around. I feel like certain people are priced out with these tours but I understand it is a business at the end of the day and this is on Navajo land.
Overall, pleased with our experience and we might come back in the fall to try a different time of day. Our tour guide said around 9:30-10 ish the colors start to turn warmer where the earlier tours have more โfirst lightโ type shots - you can see examples in this review. (July)
So depending if you want a less rushed experience or if you want specific light - plan your tour accordingly!
Also: note: donโt be that person that drops your phone, water bottle, etc from the first flight of steps down. You could quite literally kill someone from that height. A man on our tour decided to wear a strap that holds a water bottle and it wasnโt connected correctly. It fell down about 20 feet to the bottom of the canyon where we were headed. Luckily no one was there and everyone was ok. Please pay attention!
No bags are allowed. No fanny packs, no small purses, nothing. No pouch of any kind. I wore bike length shorts that have two pockets. I used my running vest water bottle that collapses in my pocket for water and used the other pocket for my phone. I carried my camera and it was totally...

RAE was the best tour guide!! He also snapped some EXCELLENT photos of us & others in our group!
๐๐ณ๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐ Here's some things to know before you visit: ๐ธ๏ธWe chose to tour the LOWER Antelope Slot Canyons & found Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tours @dixieslact to be the best in price (roughly $73 pp including tax & fees) others were charging $100+ ๐น๏ธThe LOWER Antelope Canyon has some steep staircases & a little bit of a harder hike compared to the UPPER Antelope Canyons. If you have little kids or elderly, I would suggest doing the UPPER Antelope Canyons because it is a bit flatter and a little more wide open. ๐ธ๏ธ They DO NOT ALLOW filming, selfie sticks, GoPros, or bags of ANY sort, but you can take pictures... and no animals (even service animals) ๐น๏ธDuring the summer months, expect these Canyons to be BUSY BUSY, especially the Upper & Lower Antelope Canyons (they are the most well-known) ๐ธ๏ธOur guide said THE BEST TIME TO VISIT is in the wintertime! He said it's pretty much a private tour, and the temperatures are awesome ๐ But be sire to dress appropriately, because temperatures can get very, very cold ๐ฅถ ๐น๏ธI took a hat... I DON'T RECOMMEND it. I hit my head twice on low hanging rocks because my hat was blocking my view... plus, you honestly don't need one (especially during summer) because the sun is blocked by the Canyons themselves ๐ธ๏ธThere are NO bathrooms in the Canyons, so make sure you use the bathrooms before you start the tour ๐น๏ธBOOK YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE (summer time primarily)โผ๏ธThey have very specific time slots, and only allow so many people per tour (but its still VERY busy), and are only open until mid afternoon. Not to mention, if it's raining nearby, they may not do the tours, for fear of flash flooding. The earlier, the better, especially in the summer months!
They also had a souvenir shop with shirts, hats, snack items, ect & port-a-potties for bathrooms.
๐ We travel for a living (USA & around the globe) and love to share our experiences both here on Google maps and on our social media pages, too! Follow along our travel and adventures!

ย ย ย Read moreWe visited the Antelope Canyon on July 25th with Dixie's Tours. The canyon is truly breathtaking, no doubt about it. However, I can't say the same about our guide, Raquel. She started the tour without a smile, briefly explaining that we would need to walk for 10 minutes before reaching the canyon. She mentioned twice that we couldnโt take photos when we were on the โmetalโ (at least this is what I understood). I speak English quite well, but I honestly couldnโt understand what โmetalโ meant. Once we reached the stairs leading down to the canyon, my boyfriend (who speaks limited English), after we had been standing still for about 5 minutes waiting for the line to move, quickly took a photo of the canyon from above. Raquel immediately gave him a very angry look, shouting in front of everyone, โDo you want to come back!?!?โ I asked her if she was speaking to us. Without even acknowledging me, she continued shouting, โDo you want to go back!?!?โ Because if you donโt respect the rules, I will make you go back immediately!!!โ This all happened in front of the entire group. I told her that we were sorry and that there had probably been a language misunderstanding. I understand that there are rules to follow, but we must also recognize that these tours attract people from all over the world, and there may be language barriers. I donโt think it's appropriate to start shouting immediately and embarrass customers over the first mistake. I can understand if this happens three or four times, but perhaps after the first mistake, a polite approach would be betterโsimply explaining things again calmly, as weโre not criminals, we just didnโt understand (the same episode happened during the tour with other 2 couples but in a slightly calmer way at that point). After this unpleasant episode, Raquel continued to guide us through the canyon without providing very little information (while we could hear the guides of the groups ahead of us laughing, joking, and explaining to their groups). She only took a few photos of us during the last 15 minutes of the tour. Definitely an experience that needs...
