Close to home so was excited to have my daughter play a soccer tourney here. Until she actually had one. This review is also only for outdoor soccer fields, as we haven't attended the indoor events or pickleball or baseball games here.
Pros: the fields are nice. The concept of multiple sports facilities is cool.
Cons:
Overpriced admission fees and no discount/incentive for buying a full weekend/event pass vs daily passes. Crowded parking lots with thru-lanes blocked so you sometimes can't get from one lot to another. No outside food/drink allowed. Water is fine, thankfully. With siblings though, this is a pretty big nuisance compared to every other soccer tournament venue. Tons and TONS of dust. I know we live in the desert, but due to staff driving golf carts around nonstop on the dirt side tracks, we were breathing in dust the entire game. Morning games are coveted mainly because of this reason. Overstaffed/poorly planned worker schedules. When we came through the admission gate, there were literally 10 different teenage workers sitting at the tables to handle 2 scanning devices and pass out admission bands. Could have been done by 3 or 4 kids. The parking lot roads that were blocked as mentioned above? Can't use signs to block them...gotta have a person standing there all day to tell people not to go down that road. Plan better. Ugly advertising pillars that operate nonstop. Thought these would display scores or show player highlights, especially for the toruney and admission fees paid. Nope, just ads that never turn off. Lights are also on until super late (10, maybe 11p?). If games are being played, makes sense. If no games on that field though, shut em off. Fields, while nice, are super hot due to being astroturf. However, the boundary lines for the younger groups were almost invisible. A dull yellow painted over the green turf. Often confused players. The main event field wasn't even used except for the final day of the tourney. Put your top ranked teams on there throughout the event since you have the seating stands for it. Just a waste of space.
Could be a much better place, more worth the money. You could easily tell, however, that the only priority is to make money. Not much thought put into real player/visitor experience. Was really excited about this place. It's got a LOT of things to...
Read moreThis review is for the soccer facilities. I’ve heard the indoor facilities are very nice. We have only been there for soccer. The turf is nice but adds at least 10 degrees to the area. Considering this area is scorching hot for at least half of the year you would think some shade would be planned- be it from trees or shades or anything- there is none. There wasn’t even shade for most of the players’ benches. There isn’t enough space in the narrow areas left for spectators to sit for a pop up tent or shade. Good luck with your umbrella- there might be wind. Also, there is only 1 entrance into the whole huge soccer area (30-40 fields). It doesn’t matter where you park- which costs $5 per day by the way- you all have to be herded in through an opening in the chain link fence- so you can pay again- to watch your child play in a tournament you have paid for and they can’t attend alone- then.. be careful to not drink too much water trying to stay hydrated in the 100 + temps- you are limited to 1 bathroom that reminds me of a dirty park bathroom or a port a potty. Super fun. So back to the one entrance- the whole area is fenced in. You have to walk along a dirt path to get to the fields. Plan to be incredibly filthy and sweaty before the game even starts. If you left anything in car- it’s not worth the trip back. I have never felt so claustrophobic in a large space before. I couldn’t stop thinking about how there was no way I could get out with my child if there was an emergency. Seems like a huge disaster waiting to happen. I felt like I was stuck in a cage and would have paid more to get in if there was more entrances to be honest- then we could take breaks and head to where the vendors set up in the shade away from the fields- or take breaks in our car with the AC. Not that it matters- I don’t foresee us returning. My daughter returned home severely dehydrated from being in the direct sun for hours on hours all weekend. The bottom of my shoes melted during her last game. It was all kinds of miserable. We recommend any other facility for a soccer tournament. This facility would possibly be worth the drive if temps were 70 or below, there were multiple entry points, more bathrooms, and a paved sidewalk to fields. I can’t believe that someone spent this much money without planning it better....
Read moreWhat a nightmare. Another example of when big business gets involved in youth sports with promises of making everything great and just makes it a totally miserable experience.
I'll start with the good: There are a lot of fields and they are new. The kids probably feel pretty cool playing in some of these facilities.
Now the bad:
It's just incredible these facilities come with all these pie in the sky promises about the experience and then kill half the things that make a local park or school enjoyable for rec leagues (with the added benefit of funding some local school district or city parks program instead of some...
