If you don't NEED electricity just park across the street for free without it. No welcome, no hello after I requested staying one night there at the LEFT shop... she just has this scowl and rang up the $16 for a night of electric only. No welcome the second day either, but she did have the gall to question me about how many trailers came in after dark and didn't pay them to just boondock! How rude of her to finally speak with that question.. Like who cares... your boxes are locked up! For that I wouldn't look in there store if she paid ME. We moved across the street and boondocked two more nights on the RIGHT side of the road after checking in. Soooo friendly over there, and taking time to talk to and listen to anyone who may just come in for information or directions. Bought a beautiful round of wood over there from the yard seeing three go out the 1st day. Beautiful stuff inside too! Stay on the RIGHT side of the road for free and thank them for just being human beings supplying a place to rest your weary bones... with a...
Read moreI am giving this place three stars only because of the cheap camping. They have electric hookups, no sewer or water, but a picnic table and plenty of room for only $16. Also, right next to the Petrified Forest entry gate. When entering the shop to inquire about camping, the lady behind the counter acted very put off that we wanted to camp there. There was a sign on the door that said the bathrooms were out of order, but reading previous posts, it doesn't seem that was true. Like the place across the street, I am not sure why they offer camping when they don't seem to want anyone to camp there. We felt very unwelcome and would not stay...
Read moreThis was a fun shop to poke around in after leaving the Petrified Forest. There are tons of things in there ranging from different types of petrified wood (claiming to be collected from legal sites not within the PF) to fossils to minerals and to even some Native American souvenirs. We felt that lots of stuff in here was overpriced, especially the petrified wood and fossils, but the minerals and Native American souvenirs were decently priced for the most part. We did buy a few small things for future Christmas gifts, and the shop owner was nice. We especially liked the goofy setup outside with the cars trying to haul off giant chunks of...
