For a company that labels itself as “a family brand you can trust” - this experience was anything but that. 1 hour late, a shortened ride, mistreatment of horses, and upsetting interactions with the wrangler.
We arrived (as I confirmed by text message that day) at 3:45 PM for a 4:15 ride and we did not begin our trail ride until almost 5:15 PM.
There was no apology for our wasted time and no concern shown that we had to stand around for an extra hour. The wrangler simply huffed around and blamed “management” for “over-scheduling.” Our forms were rushed and they was rough and surly with the horses. The wrangler was smoking, yelling at the horses and acting rude - I could hear bad language and it was very awkward for the guests. It was upsetting and concerning to my 9-year-old daughter.
When we finally started riding, she said we wouldn't make it to the turn around and had to go slowly because we had pregnant slow horses and 'management sells all of the good horses.' She was texting and on her phone while riding and leading us (I know she was in control of the horse and able to do it, but it was not appropriate.). She complained about being overworked and that the horses were tired - and it just cast an awful shadow over the whole experience. We spent very little time in the park enjoying the views.
I understand that COVID has been a difficult time for small businesses, especially those in the tourism industry. I also understand that people run late and have bad days. I have much grace for that. But I reached out to the company to relay my experience and they never got back to me.
Please save your money and go somewhere else!
A note to the business owner: I did not ever call the stables about the pregnant mare; you must have me confused with another concerned customer. I sent an email to the website relaying my concerns one week ago and never heard back. I wish...
Read moreJust a warning- we signed up for a 2 hour, 160$ sunset trail ride. We were charged an extra 92$ afterwards for no reason, we've reported it as a fraudulent charge as they will not refund the amount. ALSO- We got a guide who took us down the wrong trail in the saguaro national forrest. We not only left with SO many cuts, both deep and scratches, we also were out on the trail for FOUR HOURS lost. Someone had to come looking for us from the stables, and we were riding with only the moon as a source of light and the temperature had dropped from 80 when we started to a mere 39 degrees, which we weren’t prepared for bc it was supposed to be a two hour ride. The guide also never told us we were lost. Then, it was never addressed when we returned. No apology- nothing. We just left. We didn't even see the sunrise as we rode with our backs to it the entire time. When telling the company about the fraudulent charge- they offered 10% back (16$) and the amount we'd tipped before the ride. No refund for the 92$, says they have looked into it but otherwise said "everyone has bad days" in regards to the trail riding conditions. I would NEVER recommend this stable-there are PLENTY of other stables that will not do this. They also asked that we say in our review that they "tried to help" ...10% and no refund for the extra charge is not what I would consider helpful. I've attached photos of...
Read moreThis was a beautiful sunset ride and we loved the horses and the beautiful views. Our guide, Chris was also very nice; however our group of six had a hard time hearing him. Really only the two people right behind him could hear him. When he yelled out the reminder to walk the horse, the people in the back could not hear him. Because of this, my 82 year old dad didn’t realize it was a time to get his horse to walk, so his horse started to run down a little hill, and my dad fell off. He is ok, just a little beat up. Chris tried to call back to the ranch; however nobody answered. If this were a true emergency, this could have been a major problem. We think there should have been another guide at the back and we feel we should have gotten more instruction and demonstration before the ride began. Also, my dad has a little trouble hearing. Maybe this is our fault, but as soon as this was realized, his horse should have been moved to the front. Chris did do an incredible job of getting my dad back on his horse and getting him back but there should be better planning for emergencies. Also, one of your horses could have been injured. Next time maybe my dad should stay home, but if there were another issue, I wouldn’t be confident that everything would...
