Played mid Jan 2019. Maybe I'd rate it a bit higher if I hadn't just played Celebration the day before for the exact $64 hot deal at the same time of day. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with the workers both in the clubhouse and out on the course. But, to charge the same price that tourists could pay at a course like Celebration is gonna result in at least one less star. There's no comparison between the 2 courses. Not that this course is "bad", it's just that there are some things that hurt it. There is A LOT of construction going on on the front 9. Many new housing projects negatively affecting the overall experience. The front 9 is also pretty boring with all holes pretty much straight out with no real hazards between the tees and greens. 9 is the only memorable hole on the front. The back does get more interesting. Somewhere on the back nine we joined up with a twosome that were both members and they let us know that they play here all the time for $20 with cart. Not that I'd expect anything like that as a visitor, but honestly not worth the $64 hot deal that we paid. Maybe when it is completed and the scenery improves as a result they can command something closer to that. But I was kinda upset that there wasn't a price break due to all the...
Read moreWhat a great course, I played it when it first opened and there was no clubhouse or parking lot and definitely no houses. Yet, the course is still in great shape and plays like an Orlando mid to high end course. Everyone is pleasant and helpful, I bought a turkey and cheese sandwich on the turn(not bad), the young lady at the bar was confused and placed mine and my buddy's order on my tab, after we both told her he was paying separately. From tee to green I can't find anything to complain about, the greens are fairly huge and there is quite a bit of elevation on the course, which is a nice change for Florida golf. The greens are massive and very undulating, so read your putts from at least 3 sides, if you're playing here for the first time. You do have to put up with some racket from the workers building all those houses and there are a ton of them. The practice area is set up nice, too bad it's a water range. My favorite hole was and still is no.18 a slightly downhill par 5 reachable in two from the blue tees, but the second shot is a big risk reward knee knocker. The hole reminds me if No.18 at Streamsong, the two holes are almost identical twins. Two of the guys in my group were first timers and they absolutely loved the course and are...
Read moreEverything except the price is average as hell. Rude trash collectors who don’t give way for guests, embarrassingly slow gate service and medieval standards around traffic security, as well as narrow roadways make the whole thing a bust. Be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes whenever you need to get back home!
Seriously cannot get over how incredibly slow and out to lunch gate security is! They close down the automatic resident lanes all the time, they will often post a guard to stand on the resident side to take passes and scan at the kiosk behind her as if that is remotely necessary, and they cause a line going out into their road due to their insistence that guest parking passes be procured by waiting in line instead of receiving guest passes in literally any of the normal ways: from having passes printed out and left on villa counters to going inside one of their many buildings to procure one. Instead they pick the absolute worst way!
I waited for more than 40 minutes the other day just to get into the neighborhood, all the while sporting a resident...
