Hurts to say, but this place for the past five years at least has been run by old men who are crabby. âTwo minutes lateâ for a tee time and theyâll haggle you. Theyâll make passive comments about being late, make remarks they canât believe weâd let our kids play too (9 years old and can actually hit the ball), and then follow you in a golf cart to constantly remind you to keep a â12 minute pace.â When approached, I asked to please stop making comments; they even had the audacity to say they never said anything negative to us. They wouldnât have backed off us if I didnât say something.
How do I know? Cause Iâve watched them do this to other golfers in the past and Iâm over it. Hereâs other reasons why Iâm upset.
My kids who can play said they didnât want to because they said they were too bad according to the pros. Iâm willing to pay their over priced fees to play because ITS A BEGINNERS COURSE. We were reasonable and said weâd wait for or let people play through as we knew the course wasnât booked for the day and acknowledged we tried to be earlier. Couldnât control the traffic. When we asked the group behind us to play through they said no because the course doesnât allow people to play through and they were âterrible themselves.â I reminded the poor kids that itâs ok to still be learning. Thatâs what a park district 9 hole course should be about. To be honest they played fine and ready golf sufficient. Itâs Saturday. Enjoy your weekend!
Do the math, 12 minutes means a four some only gets 3 minutes each per hole. PER HOLE.
After all that guess who finished 13 minutes early? We wouldâve been 21 minutes early if I didnât encourage my kids who were still learning to take. Their. Time. And have fun.
When I talked to the other manager, I told him about the incident and his only remark was he couldnât comment on anything that happened between his workers on the course. Isnât that what a manager does? Make sure theyâre respectable and doing their job with some customer service? If a teen working there made a rude remark to us, would he get reprimanded?
Good job Frankfort Square. Id pay more attention to these older folks ruining the games for the ones trying to get into the game. This isnât Prestwick, Green Gardens, Olympia Fields, Silver Lakes, Cog Hill, etc....
Read moreMy family and I have been going here since the course first opened way back in the day. We normally love it because it's fairly affordable, usually not too crowded, and a great casual atmosphere for beginning golfers.
This year however, we've had numerous bad experiences with one of the course managers, a portly middle-aged man with longer, grey hair. The manager has consistently given us a hard time when he's had no business in doing so.
He claimed that we needed to "speed up play" because "golfers were piling up behind us." This was in spite of the fact that there was only one group behind us, an entire hole back, and that we had already let a couple of the singles/doubles players behind us play through as needed.
He also rudely confronted us about having our 11-year-old cousin on the course without her own bag, even though she was sharing a bag with one of us. Again, this in spite of the fact that we had already paid for her to play and ride in the cart, and that the other workers there took no objection in it. The very nice woman working the front desk allowed us to rent a bag for free since we had already paid for everything with the understanding that my cousin would be fine in playing.
On numerous other occasions he's just been downright rude and unfriendly, bad mouthing the "idiots who leave their putters on the green." This is even more disappointing considering the other course manager we've run into, an older gentleman with white hair, is extremely nice and welcoming.
If it weren't for this seemingly vindictive man (whom we, sadly, didn't get the name of), we would continue to bring our business here.
However, because of how much of a hassle he has been all summer, we'll be taking our future business to some of the nearby (and cheaper) courses...
Read moreThis is a nicely kept, short and compact, 10-hole park district course. Yes, 10 holes. The "first" hole (1A) is a tight practice hole, just to loosen up a bit and get a feel for the greens each day: nice touch. There is a mixture of wide open holes (such as the 8th and 9th) and tight holes (such as 3 and 7). [In fact, 3 and 7 are placed side by side in only 85 feet of space between the back fence of the 250-yard driving range, and the back property fence!] Water seems to be everywhere, with a drainage creek running through most of the course and connecting 3 sizable ponds. There are forced carries on 3 holes. Water also enters into the picture on 3 additional holes, but if you are a decent shotmaker, you can stay high and dry. The greens are deceptively small, with the long, undulating 5th green and the wide and shallow 9th green being the exceptions. The driving range has both mat and grass tees, and there is a large, well-kept, 18 hole practice green along with a practice bunker to round out your practice sessions. In addition to a basic line of golf supplies, the clubhouse features the "Ala Cart Family Diner" (get it? golf cart?) where you can get a nicely dressed 1/3# burger platter for under $5 and other grill specialties similarly reasonably priced. Base price for a round is $12, although there are Senior, Twilight and Bulk...
