I understand that the warehouse in North Carolina experienced flooding, which is certainly a valid challenge, but it was only part of the issue I encountered.
I purchased a Stressless chair from a high-end reseller, trusting in its promised quality. However, within a year, it began squeaking and no longer rocked smoothly or silently—like something was obstructing its motion. Disappointing for a premium product.
I contacted Stressless, who directed me to a local reseller for repairs. The local reseller agreed to fix it but informed me I’d have to cover labor costs, as the warranty only included parts. Fortunately, the out-of-state reseller I bought from, Garrison’s in Medford, OR, stepped up unprompted and covered the repair costs—exceptional service I can’t praise enough.
The repair process, however, was a fiasco. The first repairman confirmed the chair was defective, citing an over-torqued support bar. He ordered a replacement part, warning me of a delay due to the flooded North Carolina warehouse. Fair enough. Two months later, he arrived with the part—only to find it was the wrong one, despite the correctly labeled box. Strike one.
Rather than wait another two months, he suggested swapping my chair’s base with their floor model’s. Trusting his expertise, I agreed. A couple of weeks later, he made the swap. Now, the chair is worse—rocking produces a sharp snapping noise. I contacted him two days later (mid-December), and he promised to follow up in early 2025. It’s now February 19, 2025, and I’ve heard nothing. Strike two.
I reached out to Stressless, requesting a replacement chair. They redirected me to Garrison’s—who, to be fair, shouldn’t bear full responsibility here. I’ve yet to hear back.
Strike three. And I decided to write this review.
I’m deeply dissatisfied with Stressless. This $3,000+ chair is subpar, and their support is lacking. Yes, they’re based in Norway, and this chair was assembled in Thailand—but that’s no excuse. I lived in Thailand for years; the craftsmanship there is meticulous. The real issue is Stressless failing to stand behind their product.
If Stressless steps up and resolves this, I’ll gladly update this review. For now, I can’t...
