I was pulled over for "Obstructed View" (ORC 4511.70) because I had something tied down on top of my trunk which obstructed my view through the back window. This is NOT illegal as long as one mirror provides a clear view for the driver behind the vehicle when driving (ORC 4513.23 | Rear view mirror.)
What the officer cited me with was incorrect as it refers to passengers blocking the view of the driver or interferring with the ability of the driver to operate the vehicle.
When an officer can't understand that having a trailer on a vehicle would create the same situation that they are misquoting as illegal... are they pulling over every car and truck that is pulling a trailer? I mean seriously Officer Kidwell.
Then to impound my vehicle when it was not necessary is just plain wrong. How can you be proud of protecting society by causing someone a financial nightmare or even losing their car over your failure to understand the laws you were...
