I did quite a bit of home remodeling over the winter, including getting new granite kitchen countertops. 5280 Stone was good to work with, they were competitive in pricing, Shantelle had good communication with me over email and phone, and when there was an issue in the fabricating of one section of counter that was seen after install, they immediately took full responsibility for the mistake and expedited the fabrication of a replacement that was installed two days later and is a perfect match. They refunded a bit of the payment also for the inconvenience.
While lifting the slab into place at install the installers damaged one of my walls (likely reason, see below). 5280 did refund me part of my payment, towards the repair of the wall.
My one concern is that they only had a two man team to deliver, carry, and install these massive slabs of stone. These men did try to call for assistance but were dissuaded by their boss and ended up struggling to carry this load themselves up two flights of stairs. The circumstances of install and the amount of men that would be required for safety should be communicated to the installers and planned for in advance of delivery and install. This was clearly not done. They were exhausted by the time they were trying to place the largest stone and this is when they damaged the wall. This is quite inadequate and unsafe for these workers. I am sure these were subcontractors and the main blame for risking the health and safety of these men lies with their own employer - however 5280 bears some responsibility here as they have chosen to work with this contractor and unsafe practices reflects on them as well.
In the end, the countertops are well made and were a great choice. I will be happy to go with 5280 again for any countertop purchase and fabrication - however I will absolutely put my foot down in the future if at the time of install there is not sufficient manpower or are unsafe practices at the time of install and I strongly encourage anyone hiring this company to do likewise. Men's lives and safety are worth more than this and we all need...
Read moreAll we can say is WOW!!! We love our new countertops. From start to finish and after. 5280 does beautiful craftmanship and they stand behind their work. It took us 1 year to get what we wanted. My first phone call was with Shantelle asking for a quote. I told her the stones we were looking at and the type of house we had. A day later not only did she send me a quote she also sent me slabs that she saw at stone yards in Denver. Her recommendations were spot on! We ended up choosing a Bronzite Quartzite it was big leap given we have so many countertops with many angles. We were very nervous. But Shantelle said not worry that they had all hands on deck and would do a wonderful job. I had our sinks delivered to the shop and when they arrived, they were damaged. Jesse worked with me and the sink fabricator and packaged the sinks up and had them shipped back to the sink company. He and Shantelle made sure that everything was perfect. The stone we chose is hard and not easy to chisel, they hand chiseled 5 slabs by hand and I can't tell you how amazing they are. There are always touchups that have to be done and they stand by their work. Andrey is amazing to work with and is a master at what he does. I did call another company and they would not do what 5280 did. Everybody who walks into our house is amazed at our countertops. They can't get over the look of the stone. 5280 took a rock that had been sitting in the earth in Brazil for probably millions of years and made us a beautiful kitchen and bath. I HIGHLY recommend 5280 Stone. Thank you Shantelle, Jesse and Andrey you are all...
Read moreThe shopping experience was good, the selection was OK, templating went well, and the final product was great. Unfortunately, the installers ruined my impression of 5280 Stone. While they were fast and accurate, they didn't respect my home. 1) One of them bumped into my stove and turned on a burner while there was something on the stove top, damaging the surface and filling the home with an acrid burnt plastic smell. They did not own their mistake, but left it for me to find. 2) their install vehicle left a substantial oil/vehicle fluid stain on my driveway that won't go away 3) they dumped their shopvac out on a patch of lava rocks. I expected honesty and to be agape at the final product, but instead I got disrespect, obfuscation, and I'm agape at the damage they did to my property. Nobody from 5280 Stone reached out after install to see how we were doing, or I'd have told them over the phone. UPDATE: After posting this review, someone reached out. They apologized profusely, and offered to correct the damage. While we appreciated their offer to pay to have the stove top scratches fixed, the oil spot cleaned, and their offer to send someone out to vacuum up the shopvac dust, we had no desire to continue our relationship with 5280 coordinating appliance service repair/payment, handyman visits/payment, and certainly not having someone else from 5280 come to our home again, and so we declined. Credit where it's due: They did at least offer to fix the stated issues, and they did not request that I take the review down, or alter...
