We spent the day in Fredericksburg and on the way home we stopped here to get some local peaches to use in frozen drinks. I couldn't get over how expensive they were.....$20 for a basket of approximately 10 peaches. They also sold a similar size box of 'seconds' for $10. I was told that they were ready-to-use that day or very soon. I bought these since I didn't need perfect ones for drinks. When we got home, I got them out of the bag to cut up and found that all but 3 of the peaches were partially green....WAY too firm and unripe to use for anything.....and the three that I did cut up had plenty of unusable bad sections. One of the pits from the ones I cut up even had mold growing on it. Burg's also told me that these were freestone peaches but I found the pits were hard to remove from the flesh. If it wasn't a 2 hour drive from home, I would have returned them. Peaches that had green on them were put in a paper bag in the hope they'd ripen and two days later they still had green on them .....and the soft spots are getting worse. I've included photos that show how much bad stuff I cut off the 3 peaches and also of the pits. You might be able to see the green on the others. I will NEVER stop here again and am wishing I had just donated the $10 to a local...
Read moreBurg's Corner, located near Fredericksburg, exceeded my expectations when I was on the lookout for a great place to enjoy ice cream in the area.
The shop is spacious and offers an impressive variety of products, including jam, spreads, wine, bread, fresh vegetables, diffusers, gourmet items, and even meats.
I decided to try their peach ice cream, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. What's more, a single scoop of this delightful treat was generously portioned, easily shareable between two people, and reasonably priced at around $4.
I also purchased a small bottle of their peach butter spread, which, while a little sweet, was quite enjoyable.
Please note that the shop is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but they welcome customers on other days until 5 pm. The staff provided friendly and helpful customer service throughout my visit.
In summary, I highly recommend Burg's Corner for their delectable ice cream and the diverse range of products they offer. It's a hidden gem in the area that...
Read more$20 for 10 peaches is pretty high, but maybe understandable if your product is certified organic, family owned, and locally grown. These peaches were from Colorado. That defeats the purpose of buying peaches in Fredericksburg entirely. The 2 boxes actually grown at the local farm were pretty rough looking. It was end of season, so that's understandable, but there was no discount. They don't let you touch the peaches or pick them out like you would at a farmers market or grocery store. One rolled off the crate and it was clear they had arranged them to hide deformities and stacked them so that the smaller ones were hidden. It's not a big deal if you don't have much left- but don't be deceptive about your product. 1 star for slimy sales tactics and rude staff. Local places should sell local and show southern...
