3 Stars.
Why? First of, the folks and vendors who worked there are amazing folks so 5 stars to them! Price of admission is reasonable and free water on a hot day is a 5 star for this event.
However, 2 stars goes to going to this place the 1st opening day and 3rd opening day the week after. I loved this place. However, it did not really give me the medieval faire vibe. I had high expectations it would have a better environment than King Richards Faire and though I expected it would not be near as King Richards, it was just tents with random wares and trinkets that yes, it does cater to some folks but to others it was more of an outdoor museum. This is Fremont, NH so we are not expecting a big spectacle nor I would expect the event organizers and property owners would invest a lot of money to go all out and give visitor's the experience they deserve of what they look for in a medieval faire. It is difficult to deliver to visitors of what they really want but the vibe and atmosphere was just not there and I found most folks were leaving after an hour or two of a visit was there was not much to see. Yes, it was so darn hot on the two weekends to the points the Brotherhood of Arrows were baking in 95 degree heat. I get it, people were leaving because of heat but also there was not much of an entertainment. I saw several large group of young people dressed up for the event. Only to find themselves bored out of their mind and they left after about 2hrs or less. Needless to say, this place can really do well if they had more of a variety of things to see and do. They have this large plot of land and so many opportunites to expand and really make this a special several days of an event. If one thing I can suggest here is at least put some background medieval-esque music instead of just silence. I get it, it was hot and probably not the best for electronics to run but there are ways to make those run and I suggest the NH RenFaire invest next year on very good event advisors who know what can cater to visitors and make people stay longer and for folks to spread the word that this RenFaire is the best in NH - not just the best RenFaire in NH has to offer. If interested, reach out and I am more than happy to make...
Read moreAwesome, helpful vendors and my little one loved the giants in the story tent. We had a blast and it was hands down the best Mother's Day gift ever to go. I love my coyote pelt satchel (sourced from local trappers/roadkill, NOT fur farms), my drinking horn, and our cats love the catnip filled plague rat we got for them! Bring cash. Atms are available and some vendors take credit cards, but machines can be argumentative. This isn't a knock on the fair, just a fact about tech. (I should say that this is an event for adults as well as children, primarily nerds and geeks of all stripes. All wonderful people that I consider of my kind. If that's not your thing, maybe stay away. On the way out, we caught sight of an upper-middle class family unit and the parents' expressions were quite sour, as though the fair wasn't at all what they...
Read moreThis has to start with - what a great time! I don't know exactly what set this ren faire apart from several others I have been to across the country over the years, it was a load of interesting things to see and participate in, we went in costume, and spent the day. Pretty much like most others, but the New Hampshire Renaissance Festival made up in vibrancy what it lacked in size. All the elements were there, just less crowded and in an environment where I did not mind my eight-year-old running off a little here and there. We might even plan to go both weekends next year. If you are interested in reenacting loosely interpreted in a really fun, casual environment, check this out when it comes around again. All the pics we took were crowd scenes so no posting...
