For our recent staff retreat, the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce chose a unique team-building experience with Sea Serpent Tours in St. Augustine—and it truly exceeded all of our expectations!
From start to finish, the airboat tour offered a seamless and exciting way to explore the natural beauty of the St. Johns River. Led by a knowledgeable and experienced crew, the Sea Serpent Tours team made sure every moment was both memorable and enjoyable.
We cruised through the scenic waterways of the St. Johns river, taking in breathtaking views of lush wetlands and abundant wildlife. The tour not only showcased the area’s stunning natural landscapes but also provided fascinating insights into the local ecology and history.
Our guide, Captain Tyler, was an absolute highlight. His expertise on the region—from the local wildlife to the rich history of St. Augustine—kept us engaged throughout the ride. His friendly and approachable demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable, and he was always happy to answer our questions. One of the standout moments of the tour was encountering alligators, birds, and a variety of wildflowers and trees in their natural habitats. It truly felt like a quintessential Florida adventure. The guides made sure we had plenty of time to snap photos and take in the sights. The airboat itself was spacious and comfortable, with ample room for our group, and each seat was equipped with noise-canceling headphones that played both music and an informative audio-guided tour. The pace of the ride was just right—fast enough to explore the waters, yet slow enough to fully appreciate the stunning surroundings. Sea Serpent Tours was the ideal choice for our St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce retreat. It provided a refreshing break from our usual work routine, while also offering a fun and educational way to bond as a team. By the end of the tour, we felt recharged, more connected, and with a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of St. Augustine.

Read moreWe traveled to St Augustine for a week get away and was quite excited about the air boat ride. The tour started at 10 am sharp. The female Captain was funny, very professional and seem to have great attitude about being on the water. As we took off the music and little bits of knowledge we received were spot on. As we motored out of Trout Pond we throttle up and had some decent forward speed. Hanging next the bank we were looking for gators. However, within about 20 mins into our ride we slipped into six mile creek where we throttled down for a good 30 minutes and on our way back we actually turned off the airboat engine and was using a small little 9.9 horsepower 4 stoke to push us out of six mile creek while we got taught about gator breeding. Super good knowledge.
That said the ride was not what we expected. It was slow. We barely got up on plain and left very disappointed about the ride. For me, I think airboat ride and I think some speed, loud, slipping over some tall marsh grass and doing something out of the ordinary. What we did was the same as what you can do on a small 14 ft Jon boat. While the tour started on time and the guide was knowledgeable someone needs to take the brakes off the boring ride. I would not recommend this to anyone for a airboat ride. Save your money and find a local- or rent a boat yourself and ride around yourself. What we was charged at 185.00 for two people I do in my 18ft Mako bay boat for a month.
Additionally, the tour was to last 1.5 hours. We were returning back to Trout Creek at 11:11 on the dot. If you motor out for 15 mins to start, motor back in for 15, spend 30-45 mins putting around in six mile creek do the math and let the disappointment sink in. No I am not negative Karen or trying to be a butthole, but this was a waste of my hard earned money. I understand we are not filming Swamp People or jumping stumps but give the customer the experience....
Read morePurchased voucher through Groupon. Given a hassle to initially book and reschedule (within 2 days of original booking) but fortunately the experience was great!
Following voucher instructions, email sent (capt@seaserpenttours.com) but no response received after 1 week so I called. I learned must call to schedule date and time when using a voucher. Male answered phone each time I called to book who was abrupt both times - "must redeem voucher then call back". After a date and time was selected and got confirmation via email (3+ weeks out), I had to change the date within 2 days of original booking. When calling to reschedule, I was advised I did not have "rescheduling" covered -- rescheduling fee/issues were NOT listed on the voucher. Again, I was told to email (capt@seaserpenttours.com) for rescheduling “to see what could be done”. I had to follow up with a phone call because no response sent. Fortunately, rescheduled date and time worked out without extra fee or dispute.
Once booked, communication via email was great -- address and report time instructions and waiver were clear. Arrived 30 minutes prior to adventure time and checked in easily. Called to airboat on time and Captain Fernando was GREAT! Had a wonderful time listening to music in headphones and Captain talk about the area. Returned to dock on time.
Airboat experience was super! Recommend going late in season to likely see wildlife because temperates in early afternoon in May 2025 were so hot, wildlife was in the shade and not "out and about” -- still had...
