Wildwood is an amazing place for your loved ones! It is equally an amazing company to work for. I have been employed here for 10 months now. I have seen the ins and outs of daily life with BOTH the employees and residents.
Most jobs, people dread coming to everyday. This is the first job I have been at, that I am happy, excited, and LOOK FORWARD to coming to work every day. It does NOT feel like 'work' to me. It feels like family. It feels like I am making a difference everyday.
I feel very attached to the residents and I do my best to meet every need they have, even if they just need someone to listen to.
I have never had any negative experiences with my co-workers or staff. We are all a team, working towards the same goal, to give your loved one the best care and quality of life! Every staff member is always upbeat, pleasant, and willing to lend a helping hand for anything that may come up.
I think of every resident as if they were my own family member. my mom, dad, grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc. and many of them I feel like have become my friends as well. I LOVE our residents! I know the rest of the employees feel the same.
It's a sense of community. The residents become close friends and advocates for each other.
Here's a few more great things about this facility.
Plenty of activities. We have a pool, gym, salon, full service resteraunt. Theaters, library. Rooms to play games/cards/pool.
We have a nice outdoor area with seating and a TV. as well as shuffle ball. a dog park area. a nice walking trail near a pond. The residents love seeing the wildlife, birds, deer, etc that venture onto the property.
We have special activities all through the week, movie nights, game nights. happy hour Fridays with special guests such as magicians, musicians, bingo, bowling. There is always something for everyone!
We have a special brunch every month where our wonderful Chefs make a plethora of amazing food. We also offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, drinks every day. Special requests, basically anything your heart desires!
We do every holiday very big and have educational events as well as just fun events such as doing crafts (wreaths to decorate your doors, home decor, etc) The possibilies are endless!
We have a skilled housekeeping staff that come in every week and clean and do laundry.
We have maintenance staff that takes care of anything you need so you do not need to worry about anything!
We also have church services on Sundays on site for multiple religions.
We also provide transportation to and from Dr appts. We go on several errand runs, taking the residents shopping (Walmart, thrift stores, grocery, etc)
We go on 'field trips' and 'scenic drives' to places like horse stables, museums, christmas light viewing, and other places the residents suggest or need to go.
We hold special events that come to us as well, petting zoos, car shows, etc. Where every resident and every residents' family members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
If you have any doubt about choosing this facility for your loved one, please come in and speak with any staff member or any resident and I know you would not be disappointed.
The residents make quick friends with each other and that's the best part. You will no longer have to worry about your loved ones at home with no one around to help. They will be with a community of others helping to take the stress and worry off of your shoulders!
If you have a loved one who is looking for a little more fun/activity in their life. They cant drive or maintain their own home anymore. If they are lonely and need to socialize, we will quickly become your friends, family, and support. Quality of life here is outstanding. I would live here myself if I was of age đ
We offer independent living, Assisted living and memory care. Our facilities are fully staffed, secure, and we will tend to your loved ones wants and needs!
We cant wait...
Read more----EDITED TO REPLY TO WILDWOOD'S RESPONSE--- UM, No. I am definitely talking about this facility, Wildwood Senior Living in Joplin. If you read the review, I did not say "skilled nursing facility", because "skilled" would be a gross overstatement. I guess I need to get more specific since I slightly mis-categorized the facility? The managers are Lucretia Chapman and Dan Shields. My apologies for the confusion, as this is definitely NOT a nursing facility. Also, no idea what you're talking about by saying you can find anyone by this name. Um... I didn't mention any names, obviously. Are you talking about MY name? Did you know that people can also have different last names than their family members???? It actually happens a lot! Nice try though. You almost got to completely ignore yet another completely valid complaint.
This place puts a lot of work into appearances. It's well decorated and hotel like from the outside, in the lobby dining area, and other public spaces, but that is where the appropriateness for the price ends. It goes from Hilton to Motel 6 very quickly . If you look at their social media, it seems like they have restaurant quality food options, but those are just for photo ops. The food is just normal, cheap cafeteria fare. Instant mashed potatoes, freezer burnt over or undercooked food. Stale, inedible bread. The rooms are shabby and depressing. You also must completely furnish them yourself. There are roaches and ants, and gross worn carpet. They are supposed to have housekeeping and laundry, but be prepared to do a lot of that on your own if you need it done consistently. If you are lucky enough to even encounter a staff member after waiting 20 minutes to be let in via call pad (where you will not even be asked who you are or why you are there, and where there is usually not even a person at the front desk ensuring that people check in at the computer for safety measures), the majority of the staff seem apathetic, and often annoyed. There are a few exceptions in both the dining area and the healthcare techs, and those people are genuinely kind and caring. The night shift in general seems much more friendly and competent. The director is rude, and seems extremely annoyed when he has to leave his office 20 feet away to let someone in or out during normal after work hours. The residents have to pay for any help that they ask for from staff. They are also only required to provide assistance showering twice a week for each resident, but good luck on being able to find out if your loved one is actually receiving that assistance. It's also worth noting that although the building is large and impressive, it is definitely nowhere near capacity. I have yet to see more than around 15 residents or so at once. You will also need to locate a staff member to be let out of the building, during normal after work hours. So far I have had the best luck going to the kitchen area, where a cranky staff member can begrudgingly swipe their key card at the front door. It is illegal for nursing facilities to limit visiting hours, so I find it very odd that they seem to provide the least amount of staff to accommodate visitation after 5 pm, which would be normal visiting hours for most people. This negligence adds and extra half hour or more to each visit. Their "safety measures" are superficial like the rest of their appearances. It's designed to not allow the residents to leave the building at their...
Read moreWould not recommend this place to anyone looking for placement for their loved ones. This is an assisted living not a nursing home so in other words if your loved ones need extensive help they will not ALLOW the amount of employees they need and your loved ones will suffer the consequences of not having enough staff to help with their extensive needs. And employees feel really bad that they cannot have the help they need to take care of your loved ones to the best of their ability. On top of that the marketing managers will say everything they can to get you to bring your loved ones into the community because they get a commission they do not care if your loved one needs extensive care or not all they care about is bringing in potential money. The director of wellness has her favorite employees and will not come into help other employees when short staffed so the residents suffer. She also false documents and covers up missing narcotic sheets ect. The administrator, the HR lady, and the director have all covered up trying to hide residents in their Memory care when marketing brings in a tour of prospective clients. They will tell employees to make sure there are 2 people in memory care to make it look like there is that kind of staff all the time when there is not that kind of help in there. They will tell employees to hide anything or anyone that would scare off any future residents family members. This place is nothing but a dishonest high tech nightmare. So many residents have suffered many infections and there are not equipped to handle those infections but choose to keep them there and promise families their ok just because they want their money. They treat their residents in m.c. like an eyesore and tell them to hide them in their rooms when tours come through thats not even right. Please do not put your loved ones in this place. The upper management isnt even trust worthy enough for employees to go to about problems because if you go to the HR lady or the DOW or the ED with a problem about another upper management person they will instead of investigating a matter that was told in confidentiality they will all have a meeting discuss what was said and then come up with a plan to cover it up and then make jokes about what was said in their mandatory meetings. Update this company still has not fired anyone that I've talked about. They continued to sweep it under the rug. They will blame staff for stuff and fire them so they will not get in trouble with state. But the current administration is still the same and problems will not change till they change their administration. Update 2020 management has...
