Movie Stars Wine Tours — Local services in Garfield Township

My husband and I came to TC for a long weekend in our RV and decided we’d like to do a wine tour. Looking at the reviews of different tour companies, we were impressed with Movie Stars Wine Tour’s 5 star reviews. We met Mike and a small group of tourists downtown TC to be picked up in his luxurious Cadillac Escalade. From there, Mike narrated our trip to 4 magnificent wineries with is vast knowledge of the wines, and vineyards with a great sense of humor. Mike offered his recommendations of specific wines for each stop. He let us go into each vineyard to pick our selections and then joined us in the latter part of our stay to talk about our experience. Before each departure he rounded up any purchases the group made and carried them out to the vehicle ahead of time. Even the employees at each venue knew Mike and gave him rave reviews. This was an absolute waste of time and money. My wife and I have been on many wine tours around Michigan, and this was by far the worst. Mike was unbearable because he was constantly talking over everyone, spouting incorrect wine facts, and acting like he was the star of the show. His self-given nickname, "Magic Mike," is beyond cringeworthy, and his desperate attempts to impress came off as pure arrogance.

The so-called "luxury SUV" was just a basic Yukon—nothing special, just another misleading claim. The wine? Completely forgettable. The only redeeming part of the tour was Tony, who was actually enjoyable to be around.

What’s even more ridiculous is that this tour has nearly all 5-star reviews. There’s no way those are real. I can’t believe that anyone who actually experienced this tour would rate it that highly. Either they’re fake, or Mike pressures people into leaving them. Either way, don’t be fooled. Do yourself a favor and book with a real wine tour...

Mike and Tony were our drivers. Such an exceptional service they offer. From the moment we booked we felt comfortable and yet excited about the experience. Mike is a local celebrity so if you’re trying these wineries for the first time it kickstarts your experience as you feel like you’re endorsed by one of the locals. It’s such a reasonable price for the experience and you could feel the envy from people riding on chunky buses which were loud, disruptive and quite frankly annoying when they were around albeit minimal to our experience. They bring you in in a nice new SUV so mist more personal. We also met some exceptional people and ended up hanging out with them after the tour was over. Such a memorable experience. Mike and Tony also kept our bottles aside and they were very attentive but not overly involved. I couldn’t design a better experience for a wine tour if I built it from the ground up myself.
