I have attempted going to this Drive-in three days in a row but the lot fills fast and phone calls go unanswered prior to departing. We had to arrive two hours early to ensure our entry today. I am now just returning home from the Georgetown Drive-In with my mother & two baby girls, however I was unable to watch any films. After the lot began to fill up prior to the start of the movies and after we'd already been waiting two hours, a man came to my car and rudely told me to move my daughters blanket to allow another car to park. I explained I would ask my daughters if they'd rather stay & be crowded or leave with a refund. The same guy replies to hurry up as he walks away. He soon after returns with a woman who I presume to be the owner of the grounds. I explained to this woman that as a paying customer, I'd rather be asked and/or spoken to politely. In which case there would be no problem with me removing the blanket. She then tells me that she'll call the police on me! :O Since there were no broken laws, I concured & suggested she call them. After she took notice of no broken laws she decided to ask us to leave the grounds, I then advised her I'd be happy to with a full refund....smh. Upon exiting my money was returned but please don't go out of your way for bad business. The kids were not disappointed, they too know right from wrong & we were all ready to leave after such treatment. I even attempted speaking to the not so kind man who initially approached my car to apologize if he felt offended in any way, as that was never my intent. After I explained to him that I would leave a detailed post online, he turn & rudely walked away. This place has set a very poor example of customer service & I'd never want my children to endure this kind of treatment. Obviously, I would never return nor refer anyone to visit. But I would recommend the staff show more decency to thier customer who pay & keep them...
Read moreThis is currently the only operating drive-in theater in the area, but when there was more than one, this was THE one to go to... definitely the best for many reasons.
It is a twin screen theater, so there are options. The marquee will show four movies, two for screen 1 and two for screen 2. Screen 1 is the bigger screen up front. Most of the property is on a hill that slopes down toward screen 1... it's like "stadium seating" for your car and there is a good view everywhere. (Trucks/SUVs are NOT restricted to back rows.) Screen 2 is in the rear and is laid out a little awkward because the rows for parking on configured on land that originally was intended for screen 1 in the front (it's not a big deal, though... once the movie starts, the awkwardness disappears).
Technology buffs and fans of nostalgia will have no problem tuning into movies shown here as all patrons have the choice of streaming sound through the car stereo or grabbing a speaker off the pole.
The snack bar menu offers plenty of choices with prices that are more expensive than fast food, but less than big box movie theaters. I'm usually happy to patronize the snack bar.
There are two playgrounds--one in front of each screen.
I do not know the owners of this drive-in personally, but I can tell that they love this drive-in. It feels like it is a hobby and the TLC is poured on thick. Everything from the playgrounds and screens to the snack bar are always well maintained. During it's season, this place easily sells out on Fridays and Saturday. Those not arriving early may not get in. Those that do come early are rewarded with a wonderful family atmosphere with food, games, etc. It is always a good...
