Update: I really appreciate that the owner handled the situation with their reply. That deserves an update, and I wish them luck. I understand mask compliance is hard to enforce, especially with so many people causing problems about it. Thank you for addressing it even when it’s not easy!
They might have cool stuff there but we couldn’t stay long enough to see. Despite having signs everywhere about masks, there were people who came in without them and the employees said nothing to them. In fact, one of the people who came in without a mask was clearly a friend of the employee’s and stood there talking for a long time without a mask before browsing through the store without one. I politely asked the employee about it and why she doesn’t say anything to people and she said she could but she doesn’t. No reason why. This place doesn’t care about their customers nor do they follow the local laws about masks. I’d stay away. Not worth getting covid and inconsiderate employees don’t even bother to care. I’d recommend going to the shops at the caves or Dinosaur World. They deserve the...
Read moreMy boyfriend’s grandparents have loved the TiltHouse for many years. They decided to take their grandchildren and me for a trip to Big Mikes Rock Shop to visit the “Mystery House.” The day before we left, his grandfather called the shop to make sure that the Mystery House would be open. The man on the phone told him it would be. After driving almost 2 hours to Cave City, we were told that the Tilt House was closed. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude. We told them that someone told us that they would be open and she responded “well, you didn’t talk to me.” We then asked her if she knew if the WildLife Museum nearby was open. She said no. After asking if there was anything else nearby she responded “no, you all should just go home.” We called the WildLife Museum and they WERE open! We ended up having a good time, but were disappointed in how the employee at Big Mikes Rock Shop treated their customers.
Edit: The employee mentioned...

If you love classic attractions, mosasaurs, and crystals then this is the place for you! I grew up loving road side exhibits like this one, and I was as delighted now as I was back then!
Our guide for the Mystery House tour was a delight, and he honestly seemed like a friend going through with us. This was my first Mystery House and it did not disappoint, we laughed the whole way through.
The TWO gift shops on sight had such amazing things. As someone who loves rocks and minerals it was great to see such variety in stone type, color, and size!
My personal favorites of this stop were Big Mo in both his fossil and statue forms. Mosasaurs are among my favorite aquatic reptiles so this was amazing to see in person!
Big Mike's has something for everyone, and it is well worth the stop. Don't skip this one because the road trip adventures of yesteryear are still alive and well at Big...
