To the owners reply: Rather than be courteous, you made a comment about the understanding of "Normal People"? As a business owner, you could be apologetic, not defensive and rude. If you know you have a issue with items in the wrong area, then have the area checked frequently. Do not rely on your customers to do your job for you. Also, you did not apologize for your rude behavior, you just added to it. As a smaller community based business you may want to try being polite both in person and online. As such you should see a mistake, apologize for it, and not make a comment referring to me not being a "normal person." You as the business owner have a greater responsibility to be polite, empathetic, and courtesy than does your consumer. You work for the consumer, not the other way around. As it is clear from my original two statements and your reply, you have a pattern of behavior. Thank you for proving my statements for me.
Update: Again a pricing issue. There were items in the wrong area ( how would I know). There was a sign clearly stating the price. I took it to the register, they find some scribble on a tag and charge more. I said it was in an area for a lesser price. The woman at the register, I think the owners wife again (Been awhile since the last incident), didn't care. No apologies, no explanation, nothing at all. Aside from telling me the price, she said nothing. Just started to void the sale and I said nevermind.
It funny they have two signs up stating if you are rude, grouchy, or just plain mean there is a $10 charge.
I think they owe me $10.
Honestly though, lots of broken stuff for sale, lot of overpriced items. The only good thing is the glass shoe display. Decent prices on the shoes in there. Aside from that I can no longer recommend this thrift store.
The owners wife acted like a child. I was purchasing 22 LP records from their back shelf. Some had Random price labels so i asked an employee (appeared to be a manager) if they were the price listed it $1. He said they are old yardsale tags they don't remove. At the register the cashier started to ring me up, saw the tags, and stated they were higher priced. I explained who I asked and the owners wife asked where I got them and they were higher priced. I said forget it, i don't want any. She paged the guy and confirmed the prices were not valid and they were $1. The cashier continued to ring me up as she stormed off stating, " I'm gonna call my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThrift Village in Glassboro has long held a spot on my regular rotation of secondhand haunts, especially given my love of thrifting and upcycling. Itās easily one of the more well-organized and clean thrift stores out thereānothing feels dingy or like it should come with a tetanus shot. The shelves are well-stocked, the selection stays fresh enough to keep things interesting, and they offer legit perks like Sunday āfill a bagā or āfill a bucketā clothing deals and that glorious 30% off older furniture. The staff? Friendly, patient, and mostly on their game. But letās talk about the elephant in the resale room: the furniture prices lately have been flat-out ridiculous. Weāre not talking high-end antiques or pristine vintage piecesāweāre talking well-loved, sometimes questionably sturdy secondhand furniture with estate sale energy. And yet, the price tags are creeping up like weāre shopping at a boutique. Itās frustrating, especially when you remember the whole point of a thrift store is accessibility and affordability. Still worth visiting, but more and more, I find myself admiring the furniture from a safe...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start of by saying when I was at the store all the employees were extremely polite and helpful. What gives Glassboro Thrift Village the 2 rating is that when the bed I bought was delivered, it was delivered in pieces. I was then told they don't assemble beds because they have a schedule. Would have been awesome if someone told me that before I bought the bed. The delivery man with rainbow hair then looked down his nose at me and told me that making a bed is so easy. For the fact that I didn't slap the crap out of him, I deserve a medal. A few hours after they left I finally found a guy who will build the bed for a fee. When he got here we both got to find out the bed frame was broken. It was missing a wheel, two different wood knobs just fell off and parts of the frame were coming loose. He left after I decided to just put the box spring and mattress on the floor. At the end of the day I was out $65 to the guy for not building anything, and pieces of the bed that I can't return thanks to the contract I had to sign. I'm warning anyone who's reading this. Be careful with what you buy...
