Gonzales New &Used Furniture and Appliances — Local services in Gonzales

*LONG POST ABOUT MY RECENT EXPERIENCE WITH GONZALES NEW & USED FURNITURE * I would just like to give a review on the service & RACISM I just received from Gonzales New & Used furniture in St Amant. I went in Saturday to look at washer & dryer. I called back to purchase it over the phone yesterday. Everything went smoothly, they charged me for the set plus $100 for same day delivery AND set up. I paid over the phone with my card with no problem at around 12:00 pm, they showed up to deliver after 4:30pm. When they came in they were very nice and friendly. They noticed they forgot the power cord. He told me he’d bring it back, the delivery driver even called me to verify I’d be home for him to come back. He never came back, so I called today about them sending someone out to bring the cord and finish set up BECAUSE I WAS CHARGED FOR IT. I called this morning to speak with the owner and he basically told me the set up and chord was a courtesy & gift I should have been grateful for. I told him I wouldn’t be able to come get it today because they will be closed when i get off work. The man told me he wasn’t sending anyone out till tomorrow, that doesn’t work for my schedule. The OWNER ED himself then chuckled on the phone saying “baby I’m just being honest he was scared to come back to your neighborhood baby, he’s a white boy…”. Then he had his staff in the background laughing too. I’m so offended because I live in an apartment complex with MULTIPLE races & the kids that were playing outside reflected that when he came to set it up! I’ve been working in customer service and with the public since I was 17 years old and have never witnessed such racism! The lady that was there didn't seem to really make a sale. We went there to buy a mattress and box spring. Both was brand new, but needed a frame. The were several leaning in the corner that was old and used, asked how much she wanted for one. She wanted $60 for them. I told her I thought that was too high.
