Course is nice and has decent food but the rangers are totally out of control. I’ve played all over the country and have never felt as rushed to play as I do here. This last time was the final straw.
Before we teed off we were warned by the starter that the group in front of us was new and would most likely be extremely slow but that if they got too far behind they would be told to pick up the pace and that they were only playing 9 holes. I’m usually not in a huge rush when I golf but appreciated the warning nonetheless. Indeed the group in front of us was very slow. Obviously we kept pace with them but the GPS on the cart was dinging telling us we were behind pretty much the whole 2nd half of the front 9. It was also a slow day and there wasn’t anyone behind us either.
We didn’t see a ranger the whole front 9 until we were on the 9th green. At that point they decided it was time to tell us how far behind we were and he actually asked us what we were going to do about it. I believe he was pushing us to skip a hole to “make up our time”. Mind you at this time there was still nobody behind us and the reason we were behind was because of the slow group in front of us. This particular ranger totally soured our day. I felt rushed after that and did not stop in the clubhouse at the turn as I normally do figuring I would buy a snack and drinks off the cart girl when she came back around. Well jokes on me because they cut the cart girl early because it was so slow so she never came back around.
I think management at this course needs to re-think their attitude towards their customers. Every time I play here I get pushed even when I’m ahead of the pace. We finished our round in 4:35 even with the slow group in front on the front 9. They are pushing people like we are playing at pebble beach or TPC sawgrass. This is Crowfield in Goose Creek SC, ya’ll need to chill. You’re not a golf Mecca of some sort. Plenty of other great courses in Charleston to play. If you want a relaxing day of golf you may want to pass...
Read moreWe have played this course many times in the past but today was a different experience. We were held up by the starter and given a five minute oration about how to approach each green, how and where to drive on the fairways and cart paths, pace of play, etc. all of which could have been covered by "have you played here in the past?" Then all of our carts were searched for any booze brought on the property from the outside. Long story short, we were made to feel not welcome. Made te turn and got a couple beers and tipped the girl well. After the round hung out at a table outside, couple more beers. Same girl who we had tipped very well was now pissy about having to gather some empty cans off of the table. We are all F&B employees and fully understand the position of bartender, apparently this girl doesn't. We won't be back. As for conditions there were several holes literally placed on te side of a hill, perhaps the person responsible for laying out the course doesn't have a firm grasp on the rules of golf. Also had a homeowner walk out into his backyard and steal a ball belonging to one of our group. When we asked in the proshop about this guy we were told, "oh he hates golfers". Never could understand people who buy homes on the golf course and expect anything different than what they get. There are too many courses in the area to waste your time and money on an establishment that doesn't understand the customer service...
Read moreGolf course is nice and definitely one of the better one in the Berkeley county. However this 1 Star has to do with a horrible customer service experience with one of Marshals. He was rude and disrespectful in every way. He had an attitude with our foursome finishing up the front 9 saying we we needed to hurry up because we were 5 mins behind pace. Even though there was no one in front or behind us the whole front 9. On hole 10 we finally had people come up behind us and he tracked us down to let us hear about it. During the rant about how we were holding up the whole golf course we informed him we would not be coming back and he couldnt care less. He continued with his attitude so we drove off. I wish I had this gentlemeans first and last name because I would be sure to call him out. Im speaking with the Club Manager about our experience he stated it was the assistant Pro at the club. Our relaxing Sunday turned out to be ruined because someone with a clipboard needed to go on a power trip... we paid $50 a person to play a round of golf and have fun on a beautiful Sunday. I’m sure this one individual is not a reflection on everyone at the course but all it takes is one person to make an organization or club look bad.....
I can assure you no one in our foursome will ever go back and it’s a shame because it really is a...
