New Paris Speedway 1/5 New Paris Speedway is at the low end of short track racing, and itās poorly managed. The website says Racing at 6. Actually, qualifying started at 5:30 and went for three hours. At 8:30, they brought the cars and the fans on the track for autographs. After awhile, the announcer started complaining that they were behind schedule. They got the track cleared around 9:15, only to have childrenās bicycle races, incompetently managed, which went on for a painful half hour. It was 9:45 before anything resembling auto racing started. It was heat races (unnecessary after qualifying and at that hour). It was well after 11 before any features started. Half the crowd had gone home by then. Running that late is unfair to the fans. Families with kids are either forced to leave because of the hour, or they stay with the kids until all hours. And itās not just families - no-one wants to wait until 11PM for the races to start. Hereās some more of the idiocy. The PA system was unintelligible even with no cars running. The leader board never had the right order, and often not even the right car numbers. (Oddly, it worked perfectly for qualifying!) They spent way too much time between races and werenāt efficient about getting the cars on track for the next race. They spent minutes after each heat race celebrating the winner - for a HEAT RACE. Just get him off the track and move on. They were slow on restarts. If qualifying started two hours earlier, it all would have been great and made sense. Then you could say you got eight hours of entertainment for a minimal admission price, and went home at 11:30. Eight hours of racing is great, but you canāt start at 5:30. Start at 3:30 instead. I stuck it out until 12:40, when they red-flagged a race for clean-up. I had things to do the next day, so I left. And I think there was one more feature race to come! (I lost track, and I couldnāt hear...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience with New Paris Speedway was really shocked. No cars to speak of. The last race was totally missed called. The 61 should have not gotten out of his car. Of when he was in his spin out in turn 1. He at that time was able to talk to the number 20 which took the number three out and spun him. Then the number 3 and 20 we're back into another mix-up in which both cars should have been disqualified at that time. The number 61 should have been disqualified for getting out of his car. I have been a firefighter for 35 years. I also work fire safety at lots tracks. I was not impressed by the fire safety of having turnout gear not on and not properly where in the attire the whole time. There was also drivers drinking alcohol in the pits while watching the races. There was a female driver that went off on a couple of teenagers because they were going to flip somebody the bird and said she had a child but yet was cussing up a storm at these teenagers with her child sitting beside her. The cost was not worth paying for the pit pass. It is nice to see that coolers are aloud to be brought in because the concession prices are really high. Wish more tracks would allow that. Also it would be nice if there was a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey do not sell alcohol, but you are allowed to bring you own food, beverages, and alcohol in. They do sell food and beverage however the lines can be very long. No glass allowed. Smoking is allowed almost everywhere. Pets not allowed. There is no shelter from the weather. Inadequate amount of restrooms for the amount of people here, there is often a long line, they stink and are disgusting. Would give 5 stars if not for the atrocious restrooms. You can bring pretty much whatever is allowed in the stands. Coolers, small generator, fans, chairs. If you have a canopy it must be setup behind the bleachers. Bleachers are rather uncomfortable as expected. If you sit in the very front couple rows along the track fence expect to get dust and debris residue on you. Overall a fun time, family friendly for...
