On Frontier flight 539 Friday July 28th from DCA to Denver Departed at 1:39 pm local time and supposed to arrive at 3:38 pm Denver time
Around 3:45 PM were informed by the pilot over the loud speaker that we were being diverted to grand junction because Denver airport closed due to weather. He stated that we would stop to refuel and then be back in the air to Denver
When we got to grand junction - there were an estimate of 5-6 other large airline planes that I could see from my window ; maybe more that were out of my small window view
After waiting for about 2 hours on the plane - the pilot said that FAA said their flight time was up, and they couldnāt fly us back to Denver but weāre working on finding another crew
About another hour or two later, more announcements were made that stated we would be de-planing and going to a holding room while they figure out a new pilot and crew to get us to Denver
Meanwhile, we have (by estimate) about 180 people on board who now have had access to only two small airplane bathrooms - the bathrooms were completely soiled with urine all over the floors and toilet seats ; I witnessed a man with no legs using his hands to drag his lower body to the bathroom where he would be sitting in urine puddles on the bathroom floor just so he could relieve himself : there were also multiple babies and toddlers who were at this point all crying and yelling to get off the plane. Passengers were loosing patience because we had no answers as to what was happening. There was also a passenger with a service dog stuck on this plane and a blind man that needed assistance getting around nice he walked with a walking stick.
At some point the pilot told us they didnāt know if we were going to be able to get off the plane because airport Grand Junction security was telling them we wouldnāt be able to re-board since frontier doesnāt fly out of that airport.
Finally at roughly 8:00 pm we were told that we would de-plane with our luggage and someone inside would help us figure out next steps. They were sending luggage to baggage claim, go there.
I asked Grand Junction security on the tarmac walking in where to go to get help. She said just walk inside, so I complied. As I was walking in as directed by the pilot, crew, and tarmac crew, Grand Junction security told us no one from frontier was there to help, and since they donāt do business in that airport we were NOT welcome to stay and had to immediately leave. I replied and said Iāve been sitting on a plane for HOURS, my phone is dead I just need to charge it to find a ride share or something / somewhere to go. The Grand Junction security said not their problem, you need to leave immediately. I was in tears because I was stranded alone, 5 hours away from my destination with no way to contact anyone and security telling me I had to leave. We were treated like we were criminals by the security at Grand Junction, this was SUCH a traumatizing experience for everyone on that flight - Grand Junction security needs a hard lesson in empathy and realizing that this was close to 200 HUMANS that they treated like criminals and left totally stranded...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have lived in Grand Junction my entire adolescent life, with family living here I still come and visit frequently. I have been to SEVERAL airports in my life. This morning was the worst experience I have ever had in an airport. Firstly, there was no guidance from the TSA department at all. People were tripping over each other trying to get off of the escalator just to wait in line at the TSA checkpoint. It took someone stumbling over people and falling on the ground for ONE security guard to guide everyone in a line to meet the size of the crowd. Secondly, giving myself ample time for my flight I waited in line with 70 other people for over an hour. My flight left at 6:02 a.m. Over ten other people that were supposed to be on my flight missed our first flight due to workers inefficiently handling the TSA Checkpoint. There was no communication between the workers, they had no idea when people's flights took off. Keep in mind this is a small airport. The best course of action would have been lining up the people for the soonest boarding flight so that over ten people didn't miss it. After our missed flight took off, it was still a waiting game for the rest of people whose flight left at 6:30 a.m. to board to Salt Lake City. AGAIN these people missed their flight due to the inefficiency of the TSA Department. Lastly, after missing our flight and rescheduling in to 10:40 a.m. my boyfriend decided he would go outside and smoke a cigarette. He comes back inside and the TSA Checkpoint is literally CLOSED. I have flown at many times during the evening and day and have never seen a TSA Checkpoint closed. So after hearing that they wouldn't let him back through, (he was the only one there), I decided to leave our gate to wait with him till 9:00 a.m. so we could go back through TSA to wait at our gate for another hour and forty minutes... This was BY FAR the WORST experience I have ever had with any airport I have ever been to. This includes, Pittsburgh international airport, Denver International airport, Washington D.C airport, a small airport in Cancun, a small airport in Rifle CO, and several others. If you can fly into Denver or somewhere close to Junction and then go through the inconvenience of finding wheels to get to Junction, it would be so much easier than what we just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFlight was bumped 3 times, United, and made us change gates each time. Airport staff was rude and unaccommodating. Worst experience at a regional airport and with United.
Flight was just bumped again for the 4th time..
5th time..NOW we have a mechanical delay and will miss our flight out of Denver to Nashville today
6th time..NOW they have no idea what's going on... we're all standing here at the gate waiting to hear anything
7th time..finally on the plane. Keep you posted.
8th update..This keeps getting better..now we're stuck on the plane and was just told that it will be another 30 minutes before we take off. Why not just let us sit at the gate like we have been for the last 6 hours...
9th update...please keep in mind I try and give everyone a bit of grace in any industry, especially in service, because there are things that are just out of your control but some communication to your customers to is always appreciated. We've now been on the plane for 1 hour and have barely budged. No apologies. No explanation.
10th update...another "mechanical" delay. Headed back to the terminal..
11th update..2000 lbs over weight??? How does this happen??? What kind of airline is this??? They won't even let us off the plane!!!!
12th update..we are still on the tarmac and are not allowed off the plane. It's 93° and people are starting to get sick. NOW they are asking for people to volunteer to get off the plane to reduce weight.. I hope to GOD we get to Denver safely.
13th update..We are part of the 10 people that departed the flight so they could make weight and NOW they are letting MORE people back on the flight!!! What is United...
