I went there on PTA night for my daughter's elementary school. I thought it was rude that they hosted several birthday parties in the same night they invited literally an entire elementary school! On ito way out, we were given coupons for $5 skating & rentals so that was nice. We were going to used them today (Saturday), but were disappointed when we realized the coupons were only good M-F during normal working hours so they are no use to us. Oh well. $29.23 later, the three of us were in with skates. But once we were in, it was so VERY hot and I considered leaving. I talked to an employee about the temperature I was told the AC had tripped a circuit and shut off, but they were resetting it and getting it back up. It was probably about 80 degrees in there! While I waited for it to cool down, I paid $2.16 (!!!) for a glass of ice water, which I promptly spilled. I alerted an employee so it could be mopped up and asked for my cup to be refilled, and was told I would have to pay again. Really? No thanks. They kept half of the seating in the snack bar area blocked off so there was nowhere for me to sit and sip my water anyway. I can only assume this is so they have less of an area to clean. We found a spot on the floor to sit and lean against the wall, still waiting for it to cool down. The sweat from our legs combined with the filthy carpet literally left black grime on our legs! It was so gross! Overall, it was overpriced, dirty, and poor customer service. We will not...
Read moreMy family and I come here regularly. We really enjoy the clean facility and friendly staff. My children have learned to skate here, my husband and I have made friends with the other regulars as well. The only complaint that we have is that the refs donât seem to enforce the rules. Even after they state the rules over the intercom. My family has witnessed children and adults going the wrong direction. Just this evening we were up there and there were a group of kids about 10 years old, they were going in every direction possible. Shooting through the middle of the skating rink, going the opposite direction, chasing each other and playing tag. These heathens took it to the next level and some how managed to get a âscooter buddyâ and was hurling that thing across the entire skating rink with no regards for other skaters!! Myself and several other regulars had to tell these kids to stop, which they never did. I took the âscooter buddyâ away from these boys and told them that this was enough and that they were going to hurt someone. I returned the scooter to the main office. But yet again these heathens managed to get another one and repeated to hurl it across the rink! I saw another person take it away from them(not a ref) after they flung it in front of him. They eventually managed to make an adult fall down because of their carelessness. In my opinion the refs need to have whistles to help them manage these kids. Because their parents...
Read moreSkate Town literally changed my little girl, Charlotte's life!
She has loved skating since the first day I took her to a local community recreation center in North Arlington, as a 4 year old.
We went weekly, but I had to keep an eye constantly as there was very poor monitoring of the kids on the rink, and it could be out and out dangerous. One day, as we drove down rt 121, Charlotte noticed the sign for Skate Town from the highway, and the rest is history.
We not only discovered that everything about Skate Town is classy, clean and well monitored! But lessons offered there by world-class skaters, have turned my now 8 year old from an awkward novice into a "swan on quads"...who's now preparing to enter competitions!
No wonder parents and kids love this place! Skate Town is a Skating Community! Both Charlotte and I have wound up making friends there.
We even held Charlotte's last birthday party at Skate Town...at her INSISTENCE! (No idea what another reviewer here is talking about when she says you can't bring your own birthday cake into Skate Town. I think that the cake she's eating may be laced with something "special." LOL)
Lastly...the state-of-the-art lighting and sound system at Skate Town are phenomenal. Skate Town Rocks! And definitely ROLLS!
See...
