Dollar General — Local services in Greenville

Until 2/18/18. ...Dolllar General store has always been a great place take my pup to say hi and to shop. The employees are like family. Today, I have never been treated so rudely by new employees (or whoever they were that were behind the register) in my life. The store was busy. About 11 to 12 pm on a Sunday. I was walking in with my pup. I have been taking him there since he was younger. (And no, he did not have his service dog tags on. We had just come from Owensboro and did not take them with us.) I was PROMPTLY greeted at the door by one of the girls who was swinging her keys). These two girls were the same ones that were just talking to man outside on the side parking lot that seemed to be ..well...yeah.

Anyway, I was greeted by these two new faces like I was walking away with a Brinks truck tucked under my trench coat. She asked me quite rudely if I had papers for my dog. Not hello. Not welcome to Dollar General, hey ...... but just barked out a comment. It stopped people that were shopping in their tracks. I told her, no, I didnt have his card with me, and she said that I had to leave. That that's why its posted on point door. I said, I have been coming in here for a year. It's never been a problem, but that's fine. We wont be back.

After this, two guys came out of the store behind me. They were getting in a pickup truck. BOTH of these guys made the comment about how poorly that the situation was handled and how rude that she was to me in front of a store full of people. I asked them if I handled the incident 'eloquently enough'... the driver said HELL I would have told her to Go get F'd...the other one said, yeah that was uncalled for.

Like I said, up until this...this store has been a fun, family atmosphere to shop and say hi to friends. Now, I will go elsewhere. Hopefully I will see my friends somewhere else out and...

I get to this location even less than the Drakesboro location despite the fact that this one is next door to where I work. However, this location does have some items that the two closer to me do not. Sadly the store itself is a little cramped and almost every time there's a long line - I think maybe twice I haven't had a long-ish wait. But again this has items I can't get in the bigger stores so the wait can...

Not sure why people are saying such low reviews on here. Since it has been under new management it has been a very good environment to shop in whereas before the employees were rude & always so sullen and looked miserable. Now all of the employees are smiling & very helpful it seems more pleasant to go to. The manager is very friendly & kind. The cashier named Jon was very kind &...
