We adore Whittle's, we count the days in the spring till they open and dread the days in the fall leading to their close for the year. Got to say though that autumn brings their wonderful pumpkins and acorn squash. Today we dined on a couple ears of butter/sugar with dinner and went to taste heaven. Plus we got a cuke, baking potatoes, peaches and that wonderful orange flavored cantaloupe they get from somewhere down south. Other days we get fresh beets and beet greens, celery, radishes, red and green peppers, more cukes, onions and whatever fruit is in season. Long...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a wonderful farm! The family was so kind and welcoming! They grow all their own pumpkins - more than 10,000 this year. You can also pick apples from the orchard in September or select some in the farm store. The farm store has tons of fresh veggies and fruit. They also source local eggs and other apple varieties. The prices are very fair for fresh produce. You can feed the pigs too. They are very family and dog-friendly. Our visit was only cut short due to the unexpected rain showers that came through. Wonderful: produce, local farmer's eggs, a terrific pumpkin patch for family & friends with a gourd or pumpkin as big as a 250lb person in the center! Several types of apples..our fav is Macoun. I also was excited to find grapes, tomatoes, squash, plums and more! I felt the prices were better than local grocery stores too which made me giddy as the cost of grocs, gas and everything has skyrocketed in past 14 mos.
