It's not like any normal haunted houses. As you probably know, there's the Manor and there's the Asylum/Forest. We just left there and I wish I could go back. The Manor is more scary but the Asylum is louder and weirder. At least in my opinion (you guys might think differently). There are lots of areas where there is twisting hallways, claustrophobic bags that push you against the wall, jumpscares from not only the AMAZING ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WHO SHOULD BE GETTING PAYED SO MUCH, but also animatronics, air, noises, objects, and a lot of them in places you won't expect in both the Manor and the Asylum/Forest. All rooms are decorated perfectly and it really adds to the spooky feel. Most rooms have jumpscares, but some of them don't so you never know what to expect. There's a story to most of it of you're paying attention to the rooms and what's in them, you can recognize some themes, depending on which part of the attractions you're in. They added a lot of new rooms this year which I did not recognize, and that was cool to see. It could get pitch pitch black and there's lot of fog so it is normally pretty difficult to see. There's many Midway actors that you can interact with while in line or while walking around the Midway. My friend found a boyfriend and he remembered her the whole time we were there, so I would recommend trying to talk to them in a manner that will make them want to continue walking up to you when they see you and you wave them over. I would go on for longer but I have things to do. If you're thinking about going, do it. Definitely do it. It's 25$ for each attraction and $40 for both attractions, and they both last around 30-50 minutes depending on how quickly you get through it. You will lost likely bump into other groups there if you go too fast or too slow. There are exits that you can leave through if you don't want to go any further in quite a few rooms. They also have other things like the maze, glass house, coffin ride, vortex, and the dark ride. I was really looking forward to the dark ride, hut it was closed today so they can change it up and add more things to it, which is always good. The Maze was okay, but seeing as it's only September, the Maze wasn't their top priority to put actors into, which was fine. The Vortex was only a minute long or so, but it was realllllllly trippy and you feel like you were twisting and falling when you were perfectly still, through the use of 3d glasses. The glass maze was a one story thing that didn't take too long. The coffin ride was definitely interesting, but not as scary as I hoped. It did have some cool things in it like scents, visuals, air, heat, etc, which did make it worth the money although the visuals were kind of boring. I won't spoil what its about, but you sit on your back, they close the coffin, and you stare at a screen while on camera outside of the ride. It doesn't move, but it doesnjerk back and forth and stuff like that. If you don't like whispering in your ear, don't go on it. But you do have an emergency button that will stop the ride if you get too scared or claustrophobic. I'm not sure if you can ask questions on here, but if you have any questions, you miiight be able to ask me about whatever you want as long as Google allows it. Overall, it was a FANTASTIC experience and definitely one of the most unique and largest experiences...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA review of Rotten Manor from a power wheelchair user: I was told upon buying tickets that the hayride and manor were both "wheelchair accessible". We waited in the freezing cold for nearly 3 hrs to get into the house. Before entering the house they had called for some kind of extra assistance due to me being a wheelchair user. The first couple rooms were accessible enough but the further in I went I realized that their idea of accessible is vastly different than my own. Furniture and props had to be moved out of my way and even still, the corners were tight enough that I had to scrape my chair along the wall to get through. The fog/smoke was absolutely over whelming. The doorways covered in the plastic flaps were dangerous for a person like myself whose chair has a joy stick that the heavy flaps can hit and cause the chair to move. There wasn't adequate lighting for the able bodied people with me let alone enough for a person trying to maneuver around in a wheelchair. The tunnels and uneven/moving floor was barely manageable to get through. I couldn't get into the circus area towards the end because there was a step combined with wet soggy ground leading up but by that time I was already so over it that we asked to be let totally out. No idea where the worker who seemed like he was supposed to be helping went. I don't want to ruin this place for another wheelchair user who wants to experience a haunted house however, the house/manor is a big liability for wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments. The tickets were grossly overpriced and wait times we're ridiculous. Everyone else in my group did the hayride and they had some boards that looked like they were making a makeshift ramp for me to get on the hayride but I had already had enough. It wasn't that the house was scary, it's that I had to deal with all of the scary stuff people would regularly have plus real life actual fears like getting my chair stuck, ramming my toes/knees into things or running over someone else's feet. I'd love my money back but unfortunately the people running this must be very callous regarding refunds considering when I asked the hayride guy if I could just skip it and have my money back he said he'd have to check with management and they'd just figure out a way to make it work. Hopefully my review is helpful for wheelchair users looking to cross haunted house off a bucket list. I appreciate that some of it was accessible however, a manual wheelchair user would likely be dumped right out onto their face trying to go through the metal tunnels and it really was a feeling of horror for a disabled person because my fears of getting stuck/hurt were very valid. Unfortunately, my experience ruined it for the other people I was with as well because they too could see the very real things that could go wrong. One positive thing I'd like to note is the security officers and actors were all very kind and as helpful as possible. Accessible means different things to different people obviously and hopefully this review is helpful for others within the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to Rotten Manor last night & it had some of the worst crowd control I've ever seen at a haunted attraction. I've seen crowds with similar energy at haunts like Haunted Hoochie or House of Shock except at those events the cast and crew are able to keep the crowd in check. Unfortunately this staff and cast didn't have the same expertise.
A few moments really stood out as disappointing. I asked the staff member that let us into the trail what the rules of the haunt were and he replied, "There are no rules" which seemed to be the major issue. We had an actress say ,"sorry I broke character" and then continue to talk about how hot the guys in front of us were instead of scaring us. The guys in front of us on the trail managed to hide away in the crypt and proceed to jump out and attempt to scare my husband and I but no one stopped them even though we waited and tried to stay far behind them we'd catch up to them harassing actors or making what appeared to be tiktok videos on different sets (with actors watching them do it). One of the actors just blew directly in my face as a āscareā, which isnāt scary but probably going to lead to me catching a cold. Inside the manor an actor separated my husband and I, which weāve seen done effectively in other haunts, however there was no purpose or payoff we just ended up not being able to enjoy the haunt together. It was so packed we were often standing around waiting to move, I stood trapped in an airbag for a really long time due to lack of purging the line properly. I had strangers grabbing me and running into me through the majority of the dark sections because we were crowded in the space and couldn't see.
There was a large crowd out, so lines were long. It was mostly frustrating because the people in front of us chained smoked even while standing in front of the NO SMOKING sign. Security appeared to say something to them but instead of putting out their cigarette they passed it around and tried to finish it then lit up again as soon as he walked away. It seemed security didn't want to eject anyone even if they clearly were breaking the rules.
There were a few great actors, beautiful sets and some cool moments. The actress in the gingerbread house and the pig guy with the fishnet shirt were awesome! The gingerbread house scene was actually my favorite moment in the entire event. The set, scents, props, lighting and actress were all top notch. The payoff of the oven was lacking though...we expected something, anything in that moment but nothing happened. The foam rooms were creative, but there could've been fewer. The dark tunnels and tight spaces moments were great the first few times but did get a bit overused. The facades were gorgeous!!! We did meet a few very competent and kind staff members that seemed passionate about the haunt and customer service.
Overall the haunt has massive potential, but lacks tremendously in skilled actors and an overall effective staff. It seems a bit more training might change this from a hot mess to one of the...
