Commissary - Fort Buchanan — Local services in Guaynabo

My spouse and I are regular shoppers at this commissary as we are stationed on island. We return for the prices, but even those are questionable at times. I’ve noticed what the cashier explained as a “building maintenance fee” of I think 6% which completely undermines the purpose of tax-free shopping for military personnel. To add, on our most recent trip we got some snacks, not thinking to check the expiration date as we planned to eat them straight away. Unfortunately, when we got home we discovered they were expired. The commissary really needs to be more diligent and organized when it comes to disposing of expired inventory. It’s not the first time we’ve had issues with items. A good few months ago we took out a pizza we had gotten the day before and it had mold all over it. The staff is kind, but we’ve had some bad apple experiences as well. Fort Buchanan, military base, in Puerto Rico, is a wonderful place to do food shopping and other kitchen needs for the home, the only bad thing is that it's off limits for civilian personal, it's only for military and USA veterans, in the other hand, it is a very great place to do shopping, because the people that work there are very friendly, respectful and helpful to the shoppers and the products that you can find there are of the quality available in the market, plus they don't charge taxes, so you end up buying a hole lot for much less money, I just...

In less than 2 months,this is the second time that I bough spoiled (swollen) meat from here. First it was a really rotten chicken drumssticks, today it was a Oscar Mayer Turkey and Ham pack.
