My spouse and I are regular shoppers at this commissary as we are stationed on island. We return for the prices, but even those are questionable at times. I’ve noticed what the cashier explained as a “building maintenance fee” of I think 6% which completely undermines the purpose of tax-free shopping for military personnel. To add, on our most recent trip we got some snacks, not thinking to check the expiration date as we planned to eat them straight away. Unfortunately, when we got home we discovered they were expired. The commissary really needs to be more diligent and organized when it comes to disposing of expired inventory. It’s not the first time we’ve had issues with items. A good few months ago we took out a pizza we had gotten the day before and it had mold all over it. The staff is kind, but we’ve had some bad apple experiences as well.
