Fort De Soto Park Camp Office — Local services in Gulfport

Just spent 10 days camping here. The site was nice and roomy. Bathrooms were clean. There was no fire pit not that we would have used it. The mosquitoes were the worst I had ever seen. I am not really sensitive to them but there were a lot. The bathroom had no screens at the vents so they were all over the bathroom as well. There was a swampy area behind our site and the bathroom that might have contributed. Not sure if the whole campground is that way.

The beach was nice just past the fort. Little poky shells when your first get in the water then it was just sand. We saw quite a few dolphins around the park. The beach further up was a much longer walk with no board walk. When we were there it had a lot of water to walk through and sand spurs.

Do yourself a favor and order a SunPass before you go. There are two toll booths to get to the campground. They charge extra for trailers. The second booth only took quarters if paying cash. Not so good afternoon, my fiancé went to Desoto this morning to look at our wedding venue location when she was attacked by some vagrant drug addict, when I lost contact with my fiancé I called the listed phone number and told the employee that my girlfriend lost her keys, I told this employee that my girlfriend is scared and Someone needs to go out and check on my girlfriend, the employee told me that she will be fine out there. This employee sent an email and said she would send someone out, about 30 minutes later, someone decide to do there job and get ahold of me. Number 1 you need to patrol this area better, Number 2 if there isn’t an attendant at the guard shack lock the gates and or 3 out in surveillance cameras with the money that we pay to use the park. Ok, so the people who volunteer here or work here are super nice so this is not a knock on them as people but the rule of the 1PM on-the-dot check in....it didn't seem reasonable with a lot of people waiting in line.
