On one leg on our 2021 fishing journey, we had a stop planned at the legendary Lake Gunthersville in Alabama. This was one lake we really looked forward to fishing. We looked for guides on the web and settled on Tim Chandler's professional guide service. He has a nice new boat, and is personable, with a good knowledge of the lake. That said, on the day he took is out, he was is a difficult mood. The condition of the bass fishing due to tournament pressure was having as much effect on Tim as it was the lake. He seemed genuinely defeated by it all, and didn't put great effort into getting us on fish. He spent a great deal of time on his phone. We fished six hours for 10 bass and one crappie, not a big fish in the bunch. All was not bad! As it turns out Tim is one hell of a food guide. He turned us on to a great place to eat and some wonderful barbeque sauses. He had a thorough knowledge of the area, and was a pleasure to converse with. I would likely give Tim a second chance, but on a different body of water.

Tim, with regard to your post on my review. My wife and I are serious and very experienced fisherman. We have fished with many guides. We understand fishing conditions better than most people. We spent our entire time with you fishing two spots. We have small lakes in Wisconsin that we could have bested that outing in just a few hours. Tim is absolutely amazing! He will put you on fish quickly and for the entire day! I am not much of a fisherman and Tim was able to deal with my novice mistakes without showing much in the way of frustration hahaha. Tim was even able to help me catch a fish after an errant cast had my line tangled on a boat house roof with the lure in the water. Some extremely hungry fish got himself hooked. Tim got my line untangled from the rooftop and I was still able to reel in one of the many bass I caught with him. All while earning the new name of “Ole Rooftop”. I’m not sure if Tim is done laughing at me yet for that! Hahahaha. I would recommend Tim to anyone looking to catch fish and have a great time on the water. I booked with Tim on a last minute family trip to Guntersville State Park for a first time fishing trip for me and my 12yo son. Tim was prompt and professional in his communication. He was kind enough to pick us up in his nice Phoenix 21 at the state park boat ramp. Within 10 minutes of the trip, my son and I started catching solid bass in the 3-6lb range for the next several hours. With my son taking his personal best just shy of 6 lbs. Tim was a very knowledgeable guide with 24+ years experience and his equipment was top notch.
