All Star Computers & Electronics — Local services in Hammond

I really like this place. They have lots of neat decorations inside. The owner is friendly and helpful. They take the time to work through requests properly. I'll come back to this review and update after I get the quote for the long list of services I asked for. We are upgrading networking and computers for the office and of the places in Hammond, All Star already impresses me more than the other computer repair/IT service my office was using previously. Update: we only got the custom computer here, the rest of the items either weren't what they did or required too many ongoing needs for this shop. The computer looked and worked fantastically, at a price slightly higher than the other local shop but with far better service. He's stayed in contact every step of the way and ensured we got exactly what we were requesting instead of trying to convince us that what we wanted wasn't what we needed. Normally, that gap between need and want would likely be on the customer, not the shop since not a whole lot of people do the significant amount of research into every computer part and the compatibility that I do, but in this case, I spent hours pouring over reviews and compatibility charts and knew exactly what I wanted and needed. Over a year ago I brought my 11-year-old desktop computer to George at All Star Computers & Electronics. He said the hard drive needed to be replaced. What would typically be a straightforward everyday job for him, turned out to be a nightmare. The issue was one of having to do with proper identification information that had to match the new hard drive to the computer. How the problem originated (due to me) is too convoluted to explain other than to say it resulted in a misleading and confusing situation for George to figure out - to the point that anybody else would have given up on this repair job, but not George. I could tell he spent a fortune of his time with experts over the phone. He probably could have replaced the hard drives on a half a dozen computers with all the time he invested in replacing mine. After all this he charged me his regular reasonable price. I can hardly exaggerate my high opinion of George at All Star Computers & Electronics in Hammond La. I brought a computer in to get a service done and left about a week or so. Had to pick it up early because I had some work to do and I went to pick it up and the short man with the beard wouldn’t look me in the eye and instantly went into an argumentative demeanor trying to make me leave it there.

I explain I needed it that day or work and he continued to insist and began talking over me as if he had some little man complex. He even claimed that I was going to take it to someone else.

Literally just want to pick it up early and I even offered to pay for the full service but he refused. He went 0-100 in no time what so ever and over nothing.

I absolutely do NOT recommend this place what so ever. Horrendous customer service and definitely lost a customer and I’ll let everyone I know not to go here for anything. I’ll drive out of state if I ever need electronics services again.
