Piggly Wiggly — Local services in Hammond

We went in to the Hammond pig, expecting the usual great service. But instead we got rotton meat. So we went back in to replace it, and we were told we had to go get the card so it could be refunded.

That's not the worst part though, I have PTSD and own a service dog in training. So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to go and bring my lovely service dog Athena. Well, Mitch came to me and explained I could not have a dog on the premises. I explained it was a service dog and he asked for papers...... 😲 A service dog is not required to have papers or a vest! You are legally only allowed to ask two questions of a handler. "Is it a service dog" and "What task does it preform" And that's according to federal American Disabilities Act.

Mitch is the Maneger, and so is the girl he brought with him. They both asked for papers. Which I can put him in prison for. Then told me HE was going to call the police after I politely asked him to speak with me outside of the store. Wow!

This location gets zero stars. Visited here on 6/19 at approx. 11am and for the third time in a row had the same bad customer service in the Deli. Why is it that even if there are 3 employees working behind the deli counter, customers are ignored by at least 1 employee while she simply stands there leaning against the counter watching the other two people work? After standing in what I thought was the line for 5 minutes (never even being greeted or spoken to at all), these same employees then proceeded to greet and begin helping a group of customers that just walked up to the counter. I walked straight out of there not purchasing anything. Ironically on my way out, I noticed more "baggers" just standing around also not doing anything productive and 3 employees in the parking lot on a smoke break. Who is doing the hiring and scheduling at this store? I'm a Store Manager in retail myself, and I WISH I had that kind of payroll to just waste in my building. Good luck Piggly Wiggly in Hammond. I'd rather shop at Walmart...and I think Walmart is pretty terrible, so that says a lot about the low regard I have for this location...

It is ridiculous I went to the pig in Independence to pay my when I got there about 3 o clock one of the cashier told me that the service this was and that it would open back up within 30 minutes. I decided to wait when the time was up I walked back into the store just staying at the service no one came for about 10 minutes, one of the male employees told me that the service this was not going to reopen I told him that the cashier told me that the it would reopen within 30, the young man said Mom is not going to open no more until Friday which is Good Friday. At this time it was 4:30 the only other place that I could have paid my light bill that was at Piggly wiggly in Hammond Louisiana and I didn't want to have to drive an extra 30 back to Hammond. I thought it was very unprofessional the young lady lied and told me that they were going to open up when she knew that the service that's was not going to open back up for that day but they will close that service that's down and people be trying to pay they bills.
