My mother shared her thoughts about her jewelry collection and who she wanted to inherit certain pieces just weeks before she passed away. Over the past ten months, I've been slowly fulfilling her wishes. Yesterday, we collected the jewelry she had bequeathed to my daughters and me, marking the end of a deeply emotional journey.
Some of the pieces in my mother's collection were handmade by Seth, while others were modified over the years. Shipley’s Jewelry was the exclusive store where my parents shopped for decades. By entrusting Shipley’s to restore, repair, and size these unique designs, we were ensuring the preservation of our family's legacy.
But there is so much more. Leah took time to greet us when we walked in hesitantly. It took all these months to summon up the courage to accept my mother’s passing and honor her wishes. When we sat down, I felt anxious and oddly nervous, but Leah's kindness and patience immediately put us at ease. She listened to our story, took copious notes, and, for two hours, guided us through the process, providing a comforting presence in our time of need.
When we returned, all three of us felt excited and joyful, knowing we were going to see through something my mom, their Nana, had wanted to happen. Leah's shared excitement and genuine happiness to see our joy created a strong bond between us. She was honored to be part of that process, and I will be thankful for her forever.
It isn’t easy to describe the loss of a parent. It is profound, and somehow, the world keeps spinning, though you swear the axis is never quite the same. I’ve spent these ten months trying to honor her wishes, care for those still here, and mend the pieces everywhere I can. It can be overwhelming. Knowing that Shipley’s and its staff went above and beyond to make these bequeathed pieces perfect for the next generation is a gift, a continuation of the legacy my parents started. My mother and father were customers for life. Now, my daughters and I are as...
Read moreI bought my wife's engagement ring from Seth in 2006. Fast forward 13 years and we've left Carroll County and now live in Louisville KY. My wife's ring had worn down a bit over time and the diamond ended up coming loose and falling out. In a stroke of pure luck, we found the diamond and set about researching someone to repair it.
The more research I did, the less comfortable my wife became with leaving her ring "with just anyone." So the decision was made to reach out to Shipley's and see if they would repair it. Once we spoke to them, this was the only option my wife would accept. Of course, Shipley's was very accommodating, telling me how to ship it discretely as to avoid wondering eyes. I was told they would have it for two weeks. I shipped it on a Monday, they had it Tuesday, i had a quote three days later on Friday and the ring was ready to ship back out 7 days later, the following Thursday.
When I received it, it was very well packed, discretely shipped and looked as good as the day I bought it 14 years ago. Not only had they repaired the damaged head, they rebuilt the band, adding gold to the bottom of the band where it had worn thin over the years. And then cleaned and polished everything. It literally looked brand new.
I'm sorry for the long winded review, but Shipley's is by far the best place to buy fine jewelry. Their customer service goes above and beyond and always has. They treated me the same way 14 years later and from 600 miles away as they did the day I walked in there and every time I stopped by thereafter.
Seth and his staff are first class and will treat you the way you want to be treated by a business. I can't say enough good things....
