I sold the S ranch a used walk in freezer in Minot ND. Caleb drove from Billings to Minot to check out the freezer, after looking and removing 1 of the 42â insulated panels they realized concrete was poured around the freezer and required more work than expected⌠I was equally surprised. But none the less Caleb agreed to still buy the freezer for $10k which included the air conditioning units etc. his main concern was 2 walls were built to and around the 40âx60â freezer. I agreed to remove the walls so they wouldnât need to worry about that. Long story short the day we agreed to meet at the building while we removed the walls, the S ranch had 5 hired men that were dissembling the freezer (cutting the bottom of the wall panels, removing all the trim and insulation from the top inner and outer corners, and unscrewing the structural frame above the ceiling. They drove from Billings with 2 gooseneck trailers with 5 guys. From my standpoint I was shocked how fast it was going by 2 pm we had completely taken out 2 walls and they had 25% of the ceiling down. With all the initial prep work done. After taking a load to the dump we realized we were not much help because they could only take 1 roof panel down at a time and we only had 1 scissor lift and 2 of the 5 guys were standing waiting it didnât make much sense for 4 of us to stand around. We asked if they wanted us to stay And help- they said no we replied with if you guys want any help tomorrow we can be here- they said no⌠ok. Fast forward 1 hour later we get a call from Shane(Calebâs hired man) that Caleb wants them to pack up and head back because the job is taking too long and they are worried about the panels will not be usable if they get damaged when being removed and because how much silicone was used when the freezer was originally assembled.
Caleb calls and I explain how the situation is a tough one for everyone especially us because we now have a mess on our hands and they want to walk away⌠and they want their money back. I asked if I can reach out to other buyers that were interested to see if they were interested if the freezer was partially disassembled. No one was interested other that a company called âBarrâ they agreed to buy it as is. for $6,000. I texted Caleb that I will pay him $6k back but he has to eat $4k unfortunately. His response: âI just canceled the check you donât have to send he anything, I feel bad Sorryâ hung up on me.
So they pack up and left- Caleb cancelled the check and said âI feel bad sorryâ
Now our building is in shambles they left us with a partially taken apart walk in freezer and parts ie: trim, insulation, steel 2x4s, a dozen ceiling panels on the ground, wiring conduit, ceiling lights in piles on the floor. And 2 walls removed. All of which we would...
