I'll say this first and foremost; I you are planning to visit this place make sure you put everyone in one car, or as few cars as possible. It's popular, especially if it's Autumn. The leaf peepers will be out in full force and so will the park rangers, and the rangers give tickets for parking and speeding! Aside from that it's a beautiful park. We saw the Wick farm and the soldier's guys. Both are interesting in their own way. I imagine when the pandemic is over they would have actual historic reenactments going on but not for now. The huts are fun since they were built to specs of the time and are mostly as authentic as recreations can be. Kids will have a good time going inside. The parade grounds are a little underwhelming since they are all overgrown at the moment. The trails are in great condition, if not a little narrow and thorny for the amount of traffic they get. Definitely worth your...

Great place to learn about our shared history. Especially if you are there when the park is hosting a Revolutionary War encapment and reenactments.

Make sure to take the drive thru the entire park. Start at the visitor center then follow the route, stopping at several sites along the way, all from the Revolutionary War period. Homes, soldier's encampments, cabins, etc. Just make sure to take the time to see and learn at each stop. Interpretive signs at all locations, may even get to talk to some of the locals from the 1700s.

Nice to know New Jersey played a very important part during this time, both here and other sites in the state. And that there is always the time and...

Been to a fair number of National Park Visitor Centers. This Center was not as welcoming as most I have visited. It has a bit of merch, a self-start video and a Ranger who did not seem as well informed as other Rangers in National Parks. You have to pay for the trail map. However, there is no entrance fee to the Park.

The Visitor's Center is located in the main body of Jockey Hollow, which includes replicas of soldiers' huts and the Wick Farm, which housed Revolutionary War forces for three harsh winters. A little further west and across the street on Tempe Wick Road you'll find the (Revolutionary War) New Jersey Battalion HQ and the Cross Estate Gardens, also...

Nature and history AND it’s FREE! 🇺🇸 The Morristown National Historic Park is a must-see in New Jersey. It is conveniently located off Route 287 making it both a great destination or a good rest stop if you are traveling the Route 287 corridor. Things to do: 🗺️ Visitor’s Center: 15-minute movie and several displays including two baskets of period clothing for kids to dress up 🥾 Hiking: There are miles of trails at the Jockey Hollow section of the park. Red and Yellow are child friendly 🚲 Walk, Bike, or Drive the Tour Loop Road Visit the Museum at Ford Mansion (Washington’s Headquarters) 💰 FREE! The park, museum, and tours of Wick House and Ford Mansion are all free of charge. Pro Tip: I recommend going Thursday-Sunday 10 am-4 pm when the visitor's center and museum are open and tours are running. While you can still hike in the Jockey Hollow area at any time, it would be a shame to miss all of the information provided at the visitor's center and museum. Not ready for the fun to stop? Other Area Attractions: 🌳 The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, FREE 🦅 The Raptor Trust- donation box at the entrance 🛝 Morris County Central Park- playground, biking, multiple sports fields #freeactivitiesforkids #thingstodoinnjwithkids #jockeyhollow #morristownnj
