The first time coming to George Mitchell's Field was such a treat, we loved it so much that this April we were married at George J. Mitchell Field in Harpswell, Maine, and it was truly magical. With the wind in our hair and the ocean as our backdrop, it was the perfect setting—scenic, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. The space is incredibly versatile, offering open fields, wooded areas, and stunning coastal views, making it ideal for weddings, gatherings, or just a quiet day by the water.

During our ceremony, the band played a lovely instrumental set, and as our guests departed, they sang a heartfelt ballad that echoed through the open space—an unforgettable moment filled with joy and love.

The bandstand is located in Mitchell Field Park, a former military fuel installation. There is a 1.5 mile paved perimeter road that is used by dog owners and walkers. A large field is in the middle of the park that is laced with wildflowers and is beautiful in the spring. There are side paths that meander through a small forest on one side of the park. This is a lovely spot to spend a few hours. Local citizens funded the project to build this and they organize musical events all summer with help from the town. Sitting here eating your dinner, watching the sunset and listening to music is about as good as it gets. Also used for other events or just taking a pleasant walk.
