J's Lanes — Local services in Harvard

We recently went to celebrate my husbands birthday, there were about 8 of us with 2 young boys (ages 4 & 3). We called earlier that day and spoke with the owner (female) to reserve an end lane. When we got there the owner (male) he was very short and seemed rude to us, we told him we had reserved an end lane and he said we could not have one because they were already 'taken' yet no one was there. We paid for 2 hours of bowling and he started our time while he was still asking us for our shoe sizes so by the time we actually got to our lane about 20 minutes had passed. We were about 3 lanes from the end lane and we saw a group of about 4 people that bowled one game and left and after that end lane was not being used at all, so he just did not want to let us take that lane. Our entire experience was uncomfortable, about 5 minutes before out time was up, the owner (male) came up to us to let us know our time was expiring, and it wasn't that he came to tell us it was just the rude tone he had when he told us. His staff was very kind but he was just rude. It is ashamed because we live in town and we will not support that business after our recent experience. Went yesterday and didn’t have the best experience. The guy which I am assuming it “Jay” had an attitude problem and immediately started our time before we were even done paying/getting our shoes we had called ahead and the women told us we were able to get an end lane when we got there he said no there was a party there later so we said okay, just for him to put other bowlers there anyways… (I know it wasn’t the party because i actually knew the people with the party reservation as I was invited to that as well.) my sister and her friends got a separate lane and again he started their time immediately and then switched their lane taking more of their time away from them with no apology just a mean tone to his voice for the teens to move to a different lane, once their time was up he rudely came and told them and us as well, just the entire vibe was off, and well we won’t be back we tried supporting local and it really ruined the over all experience and day for us. Always a good time at J's! Bowling, good food, great friendly staff. Small town bowling with something for everyone. Service was awesome! If we needed help, wanted food or drinks, staff was always ready to help. Just a great bunch of people working there. If you just want to kick back with a drink and watch the game, the bar area has everything you need. Pool table, darts board and TV's with a pretty good sound system. Private video gaming room for the gambler. As I said, something for everyone. Fun fun time at just a great place to hang out with friends and family. We'll definitely be back...
