We purchased a tree from Hague’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I could not be more upset. After visiting a few other tree farms locally, we figured we would try this place out. We usually opt for a choose & cut tree but Hague’s cut-your-own lot had little to pick from. My husband and I noticed a few really nice pre-cut however so we figured for the first year ever, we’d go the pre cut route. The employee who helped us was quite friendly, and advised us the tree was cut in the “last week or two, right here in Hague’s field”. (His exact words) Within a matter of two days, we noticed significant needle loss. I’m talking the kind of loss where if you even slightly tap a branch, needles drop by the dozen, sounding like rain. It only got worse with time. Here’s the thing: we have both had live trees our entire lives. We water our tree daily and keep it from heat sources - so we know how to care for a tree. This though, is absurd. The tree is now missing roughly 60% of its needles and it won’t make it to Christmas. My kids are so upset because they were excited to decorate their tree. Now, we’re faced with two choices: have no tree for Christmas OR buy another somewhere else (Hague’s cost us over $80). I’m not one to complain - a tree is naturally going to shed. But the needles shown in the photos are legitimately JUST what it lost just while moving it. It doesn’t show the needles lost or sucked up by our vacuum the past 8 days. There is NO way this tree was cut that recently, especially in their own field. We feel mislead and disheartened and now we’re stuck spending more money (that we can’t really afford) or having no tree for the holiday. 10/10 don’t recommend.

We decided to try out Hague’s this year because our usual place, Corkum, had a pretty slim selection this year. We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Hague’s choose-your-own field was small and barren, but they had some good looking pre cut. We chose a tree that we were told by the employee had been cut in the “last week or two” and was from Hague’s own field.

Which ended up being clearly B.S., because this is the worst tree I’ve ever had in 38 years of life. It is dying so fast that I have little doubt it won’t make it to Christmas. It sheds a hilariously large amount of needles daily, requiring constant vacuuming. Touching or jostling the tree in any way results in an avalanche of needles.

I am not exaggerating. It’s ridiculous. I’ve routinely gotten better trees than this from parking lot tree sellers before I started going to farms every year. And don’t tell me I don’t know how to take care of a tree, I’ve had a live tree every year of my life. I water it daily and keep it away from heat sources.

The tree is junk and Hague’s should be ashamed they are misleading their customers like this. Most likely my children will either have no tree on Christmas, or I’ll have to take this one down and buy another (Hague’s cost me over $80, money we certainly could’ve used that’s wasted now). What a...
