Cannot say enough positive things about this place! My boyfriend and I went with just the two of us and had the most amazing experience. We recommend Krishna Cow Sanctuary to everyone we know that has plans to travel to Big Island, or even just a desire to travel to Hawaii! We took my family to Big Island, and as soon as we landed and got our rental car, we headed straight for Krishna Cow Sanctuary! My family says it was truly the highlight of their trip. The cows were truly incredible, and so were all of the staff/volunteers. They were so kind, welcoming, and happy to teach about their sanctuary! They knew each cow individually and would tell you how each cow likes to be pet, and where their sweet spot was! It was amazing. They take such good care of the land and of the cows....
Read moreThe bad: No soap or sanitizer. If you get some cow manure on you, better hope you have something to clean it up. There isn't really a queue system. It's a free for all. Keep an eye on your young kids, if they don't know how to behave around cows. There is some risk.
The good: It's cool to be around the cows. I don't think I'd call it therapy but I get the marketing. The cows are responsive. My kid loves taking pictures and could spend a couple of hours there. Read moreA wonderful experience and one ever animal lover should try. The caretaker is extremely friendly and tells you all about the cows, knows each of their names, and has personally raised most of them.
Additionally, I have NEVER seen cows that are more happy, healthy, and clean! Now, they are cow, so they arent SPOTLESS, but they really are the cleanest cows Ive ever seen! Thats how well theybare taken care of and loved by their caretaker. Cows are extremely loving and kond, please be sure to be friendly and respectful in return. Not for kids that dont know how to act around animals.
