3 stars. Cute market, talented artist but my personal experience left me uncomfortable.
Rufus’s work is beautiful and deeply expressive, and I can see why many people enjoy visiting his market / studio. As a writer myself, I appreciated the poetic nature of his art and the space he’s created at the market.
However, I had an interaction that left me feeling uneasy. I’m sharing this not to cancel, but simply to offer another perspective. If you are a woman—particularly one who is younger or conventionally attractive—just be mindful that his compliments can cross a line. In my experience, it started to feel less like admiration and more like an attempt to sexualize or project onto me as a “muse,” which was not something I consented to or was comfortable with.
It’s a reminder that self-mastery and enlightenment are not static achievements but daily practices. Even kind, creative, spiritual men are still human—and sometimes act from unchecked parts of themselves.
I hope Rufus continues to do the inner work and grow, because his art and presence clearly touches many people. But I also hope women feel empowered to trust their instincts and know they are not alone if something...
