Pick & Rail Market — Local services in Helper

I love this small town but this grocery store is not this town's strongest feature. I do want to note a strong point of this place before I drop the bashings. Their meat department is quite fantastic and fairly priced, although not always stocked the best. While I want to appreciate this place, it's hard to when it's consistently got poor selection of produce and what is there is often wilted, even the "sealed for freshness" salads/lettuces. Freezers don't seem to be in very good operations as many items I've brought home items that appear to have been repeatedly thawed and refrozen (ie full of condensation or cheesy contents all melted and refrozen to one side of the packaging on a take and bake pizza). Far expired canned goods, condiments, meat, or dairy products are often on the shelf with no price reduction. (Dropped a star for zero response from owner)

Consistency is not a thing, it seems top/favored brands don't stick around, they're sometimes stocked and sometimes not, store employees don't pass the word or help at all when asked about stocked items availability.

We often joke around and bet on what is going to be available or not or far expired when we are driving across town on the way to this store.

I want to love this grocery store but it's more often disappointing than lovable or recommendable to others. It seems to target shoppers that forgot to stop at a grocery store in Price on the way home from work...

Pick and Rail is great. They have a decent selection and good prices, especially for a small town market. And that's exactly what they are. The employees are all super nice and exceedingly friendly. It's just an overall great place. And while their prices aren't as low as say, Walmart, they aren't price gouging either. The selection isn't huge, but for a small town market it's at least adequate. Summer B was working tonight and the lady she was working with was a complete jerk, not Summer. (Didn’t have a problem with her) I have been going in there for years.
