Have shopped at this overpriced so called Italian food store for many many year until today when some rude clerk attempted to scold me because of the way I wanted a certain prepared food. Just as well as I am fed up with being gouged and there are many other similar stores that are reasonably priced and the employees and owner(s) are grateful for the customer who patronize their business. GOOD RIDDANCE!
Update. So my wife suggest we give it another chance to see if customer service has be employed and today, 3.12.25 we go in and I ask the 'Clerk' for a container of anti pasto which is a a mix of ends of lunch meats, cheese and vegetables, Delallo method. I tell the 'Clerk' go easy on the cheese and he says it all mixed. I tell him I don't want a container of cheese ends and pay well over $12.00!
He cops an attitude. Last I checked when I am PAYING for something I expect to get what I want not what Delallo wants me to have! You people need to get that in your heads! Overpriced and Zero customer service! Update! I stop by DeLallo today to pick up some lunch meat purely because of location convenience. Now most people with a functioning brain realize that when a item is advertised at price per pound and you ask for a pound of said item then that is what pay. Example: DeLallos prepared foods all show price per pound. I ask for a pound of a prepared food priced at $9.98 per pound however when checking out the 'pound' of prepared food rings up at $14.95?? I tell the cashier I ask for a pound so why am I being charged $14.95.
A Manager is alerted and advises me no problem I''ll take the item back and make it exactly one pound. When you ask for an item at a specific weight the clerk is required to tell you if the weight is over and so you can decide if you wish to pay extra. I tell the Manager you want me to wait while you go back to 'adjust' the weight. The proper solution is to charge me the exact price per pound! Hard to understand? Perhaps for an uneducated idiot or in this case this is the way this place does business hoping you will not notice or question this method of operation. As for those at DeLallos who set these standards a reply will not come and if I contacted them directly they care less. I also notice the quality of their prepared food had taken a steep nosedive. Today I was overcharged by a minimum of $20.00. It won't happen again as I just might stop by again but every effort will be made to...
Read moreService Used to Be Great - Now It's Terrible! My husband and I have been Delallo customers for several years, mostly ordering from them online, and sometimes purchasing their items in local stores. They always packed the items well and never forgot to include anything we ordered, until the past year. With each order we received, items were missing, cans were dented, lids on jars were loose so that jar contents spilled inside the packing box, and items were no longer packed well. Each time there were problems with our order, we wrote to Delallo's customer service team via their website link. Instead of apologizing, they refunded the price of the items that were missing or damaged, which we discovered when reviewing our bank account. Delallo gave no explanation for their order fulfillment errors, no "sorry," no offer to replace the damaged items and send the missing items - they didn't even tell us we'd get a refund. We only found out when we checked our account, which we do regularly. But at least we got our money back. We then had to waste time reordering the same items, and paying shipping again, hoping the items would be intact in the subsequent order. Again, items were missing or damaged, and again, we reported the issue to customer service, and again, no apologies. Instead, they gave a long explanation, after several messages from my wife without any response, to excuse their poor service by saying they had several orders received at the same time. We told them she wouldn't buy from them again. We were on their email list, and they removed us, which is funny because they didn't even try to get us back. They simply didn't care and took us off their mailing list out of spite. Delallo used to be great, but now their service is lousy, their attitude toward customers is worse, and even more egregious, when the mistakes are theirs, instead of owning up to them, they get angry at their customers! What a sham, Delallo. You have a lot to learn about delivering great service. Not sure what happened to your company, but those who ran it well are obviously no longer...
Read moreAnything and everything you need Italian! Walking in to the market you are transported into an organized market. Everything is neatly stacked and pleasing to the eye. By following the route you are able to get and see everything. They have an amazing array of fresh produce. A huge selection of olives that are sold per weight. Then you enter the cheese heaven. We're you are assisted with whatever cheese that you need. Now I did encounter a female worker that must have been having a bad day. Even though I returned her negative attitude with politeness, it did leave a bitter feeling. But then as everything goes you get to work with someone new and they are just uplifting and happy. Was assisted by a wonderful lady in the pre-made meal section who even gave me some suggestions that her son loved. That section is amazingly delicious. I tried their Mac n'cheese, meatballs and Italian hoagie...everything was delicious. Meatballs especially. Pass that you have the meat section. Save room for dessert as they have an entire area just dedicated to that. Everything looked beautiful. I do not have a sweet tooth so I bypassed it but I am sure that you would find something that you would love in that section. Then obviously you have the basic Italian canned and dry good section. Different types of pastas, sauces, canned goods, and spices are easily found. Overall for my first time it was a pleasant experience. I will say be prepared to spend some money. As all good things are pricey but oh so worth it. I have utilized many items that I have picked up from the market in my meal the next day and as no surprise it was delicious. I will be returning...
