It really is a WHOLE GALAXY of games! I am visiting from Houston and one thing we have a lot of is retro game stores. This place is a whole new level! This place doesn't just have games though, it's also a TCG store with tournaments and casual play. Martin was so helpful and fun to talk to, we stayed for way too long lol. Gave great advice on the games and cards, even showed us a helpful tip for an old pokemon game. And told me about this cool tv plugin for GameBoy which I’ve never even heard of.
The video games selection is immaculate with every console and accessories I've never even heard of. PlayStation, Wii, Xbox, Nintendo, Sega, it’s all there, I have never seen so much MadCatz in my life. There are buckets and buckets of controllers and accessories so whatever you need I'm sure they have it. Its also super organized which I NEVER see at these kinds of stores. The games are alphabetical which made searching for what I wanted easy, fast, and with no hullabaloo. I saw some rare finds here with good prices. They also offered (and did) resurface the Wii games we bought so they look BRAND NEW. One had a pretty deep scratch so I was very thankful. They also do game and console repairs at this store. Including game cartridge battery replacement! So, get those games to save again!
The cards side had Pokemon, Magic, and One Piece. I saw some pretty cool cards and even bought quite a few from the $1 Pokemon box on the counter that I adore. There was tons of Magic and One Piece. We picked up some One Piece packs and a starter deck, I encourage that you buy a pack and open it in store with the staff. Martin was quick to tell us about the cards we got and excited to see what we would get. Just a really fun place all around. They had really nice card boxes and mats (of course I grabbed some of those too). Including the cutest pokemon deck boxes I've ever seen, again great pricing on those too. They have TCG tournaments and meet ups weekly for every game. There were LOTS of tables so don't be shy, plenty of room!
So basically YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!! and of course say Hi to Martin for me, make his day go by a little...
Read moreI went to the mtg pre-release Tarkir: Dragonstorm event on Friday night. It was a travesty! My friend and I showed up at about 5ish to register. When we asked if they had enough sets for us to register and play they said, "Definitely!!" So trustingly, we registered for the event. We left and arrived a few minutes before the event was supposed to start. Immediately, we knew something had gone wrong! There was a hot sweaty, stinky mass of nerds PACKED in the store with seemingly nothing happening. We stood at the back of the cramped space for about 15 minutes before some official looking person started shouting from the register area, he was informing us that SOMEHOW they had maybe oversold the pre-release packs and seats that they had in store. The Devil forbid, that they plan ahead and count how many of each they had available before selling more than they had to their innocent customers.
He then went on to ask us if anyone was willing to maybe NOT get a pre-release pack and instead take a refund or maybe just 7 regular packs and vacate the premises. Naturally, we informed him that we had been told that, "There's plenty! There won't be any problems at all!" when we paid earlier. We felt that we had paid in good faith and that it was unfair for us to not get what we paid for. We offered to just take our pre-release packs and leave the store so others could pay. He explained he only had 51 packs and he was reserving them for people who were going to stay and play, and that all others could take one of the other 2 options. After about a half hour of waiting we ended up taking his 7 pack "deal" and left.
What poor planning! These people's eyes were bigger than their stomachs and we all had to suffer from their greed. I don't think I will ever go back to this store and will be taking my time and money to more deserving stores. Thanks for such a "great" experience, I will never go back. 0 out of 10, I do...
Read moreI came to the store looking for 2 games specifically, Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1 and Rogue Galaxy for the PS2. I found them quite easily and was impressed by the collection of games the store had in stock. I did find it odd that there were no prices listed anywhere, but I didn't care too much because I knew what I was there for and that I would likely be comfortable with the price. However, when I got home with my purchases, I was severely disappointed, I am unable to actually play either of the games I purchased. At no point in my interaction with the cashier did he bother to check the condition of the discs, I was slightly in a rush so I didn't either, and the copy of Rogue Galaxy I purchased is scratched and damaged. The first 20 minutes of the game is playable, but then the disc stop being able to be read. Additionally, the copy of Final Fantasy Tactics I purchased was the Japan release, which I did not realize until getting home and trying to actually play it, I would not have purchased the game if I knew it was the Japan release of the game, which cannot be played on the region locked PS2 that I own. The cashier did not think to mention or double check with me that I knew that I was buying a Japanese release, something that I have had happen at other establishments, allowing me to make a well informed purchase. Admittedly, I probably could have done some more double checking to see if the copy I picked up was the North American release, but I think it would be safe to assume that a foreign import would be kept behind the glass for those interested in those copies as opposed to on the open shelf for anyone to grab. Overall I am severely disappointed with my experience, the only reason that I am giving a second star is that the cashier was nice and made good conversation while he was ringing...
