North & Main Clothing Company — Local services in Hiawassee

They have very expensive, yet cute and trendy clothing here, however, they are not size inclusive. They mainly have XS-L, and they have the smallest selection of plus sized items at the very front of the store which is honestly weird and uncomfortable as someone who is plus sized. Sometimes they have some good options, and sometimes they have barely anything. I tried on a few items last time I went and I’m usually 2X, but even the 1X was too big on me, and there’s no way I’m fitting into their Size L. I would be surprised if any plus sized lady went into this store and came out feeling better about themselves honestly. Won’t be going back and wouldn’t suggest it for my plus sized girlies. They do have some cute shoes, jewelry, and various other items to look at, but you’d be better off going to target or Walmart for their prices and quality. I will also add that I’ve gone in several times in the past and was always treated differently by the managers/ owners than the smaller girls who were shopping at the same time. They got more attention, and I barely got a glance, let alone a smile or a “how are you?” The last time I went, the lady was a little nicer, so maybe it’s something they’re working on. Terrible experience here as a new person in the community. About 6 girls working with about three people in the store including myself. Were guffawing and talking and socializing like they were in a bar. Talking about how they’d never help a homeless person, etc. felt like being in a dorm room of a wealthy all girls’ private school. Never once was I asked if I needed help and in fact had to search for one of the cackling gaggle of 6 to ask a question. An older woman put some items for me in a dressing room that one of the Mean Girl elites put away and then didn’t put back when notified. I had to find all the items and put them back. Very disappointing as the store has some of my favorite brands but as a once homeless woman (who was not on drugs and who was very educated and employable despite the gaggle’s assessment of people unlike themselves) I couldn’t stomach giving my hard-earned money to an operation that employs such lazy, non-helpful, rude and rudely privileged young people when there are so many young men and women who would do this job with grace and show gratitude and decorum and...

I really, really don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I am so upset about my recent experience with Shop North and Main. I ordered a dress that I was super excited about, and while trying it on, (it’s a button up style dress, the button hole frayed and ripped a pretty sizable and unrepairable hole. I called and spoke with someone and essentially was told that since it happened while trying it on it’s not their fault and there was nothing they could do for me. I’m a pretty active online shopper, and I’ve never had another company do me this way. If I’ve ever received a product that the quality couldn’t even make it past me trying it on, it was rectified. Now I’m out the money I paid, and with a dress with a huge hole in it. I attached photos of the hole to show how visible any sort of repair would be.
