I called in advance told them I wanted a double kayak. No. We head up there and while we are walking up the guy leaves. The lady comes out and I explain I called and what I wanted. There were at least 20 kayaks out there but I was told I had to wait for the guy to get back. How long will that be? IDK he left his phone here I'm told. Waited 20 minutes. Wouldn't let me launch, wouldn't get a kayak for me the only person allowed to do it is the guy who looked over at me as I'm walking up to his business and leaves. After 30 I asked if there is a canoe or something we are from across the state and the 1st my wife and I had a babysitter in over a year. Finally 45 min later we are sold a canoe without any apology or anything. Not what we wanted, charged full price and lost an hour by the time it was said and done. BTW Mr. No phone still didn't show up the hour we sat there. The trip was beautiful and I know you don't have to be nice to your customers since you have pretty much the only good spot on the river but dang be nice and don't make people wait until u get around to it. I'm sure you don't like being treated that way when you go to other businesses. It's simple be...
Read moreI did the two-day 26 mile kayak trip. The river and springs were amazing, but day two after Blue Springs ( I won’t even mention Ginny Springs... no way). But Blue Springs was amazing and there is a little branch there that gives plenty of serenity. Met Jill there and wish I’d have got her contact info. After passing the crazy and unattractive Ginny Springs due to the age difference, I found a sweet little camping spot. Set up my hammock and settled down. Mosquitos.... all zipped up at dusk. Once daylight came again, it was such a nice two hours before I set off on day two. Got a bath, packed up, and settled in for the tough 5.5 hour trip to the pick up point. The river gets wide and the current slows. I got a good workout. Outpost showed up ten minutes early for the 30-min ride back to my car. Everyone here was very nice, but the equipment not do much. The kayak was old and not maintained. The foot rests would have been nice on day two... the paddle was too short for the two-person kayak. Felt a bit overcharged and disappointed due to the equipment conditions, but the trip was fantastic. ...

Would highly recommend this trip down the Sante Fe river. John was very kind and helpful at explaining the route and the different spots at springs. We took a two-seater kayak and did the shorter 7 mile trip on a Saturday- a pleasant amount of people on the river, not too many. We had times where we were the only ones in sight. The river itself is a slow-moving, relaxing stretch of water. We saw many turtles bathing in the sun and even a heron catching a fish.
Bring a cooler and plenty of water. You can pack a lunch, there are picnic benches at various spots along the trip. The kayaks have ample space for storage, but the one we took had no waterproof compartments.
The launch location is right on the river, and they pick you and your equipment up at the end of the trip and bring you back. I appreciated that they asked us to bring our garbage back in a bag so that it could be properly recycle/discarded.
All in all, an awesome day...
