Authentic Kitchen & Design — Local services in Highland Charter Township

In March of last year my husband and I undertook the renovation of the bathroom in our rustic cottage. Our remodeling contractor recommended a plumbing and cabinetry supplier for our vanity, linen cabinet, and fixtures, whom we decided to use. To say that we had a bad experience with that company would be an understatement. Deadline after deadline for ordering the custom cabinets was not met, excuses abounded, causing our installation contractors to nearly give up on the project for the season. One day on a whim I decided to drop into Authentic Kitchen Design to see if they could help us at the 9th hour to select, order and have delivered custom cabinets asap. Within the very same day I entered their showroom, I had answers to my questions, beautiful cabinetry selected and an order ready to go. David was exceedingly helpful in understanding and addressing our dilemma and was quick to attend to all of the details pertaining to our project and order. We hope to remodel our cottage kitchen one day. When that time comes, we will head right over to Authentic Kitchen Design.

Additionally, I would like to commend AKD for their showroom’s attractive exterior design. I believe that beautiful exterior designs of both home and commerce buildings add to the overall esthetic of our communities and can allow all who pass such lovely buildings see and experience a touch of beauty or intrigue in our midst. Two years ago we decided to build a new home. We went to Authentic Kitchen Design because we had strong ideas of what we wanted but needed lots of help with the design. We worked with David and Tricia on the designs for our kitchen, three bathrooms, living room and family room book cases, a built-in Murphy bed with shelves and a mud room! During the entire process, David and Tricia were patient, attentive and very responsive — we definitely felt like their only goal was to create rooms that we would love. They offered great design ideas and paid attention to every detail. Whenever we emailed or called with a question or concern, we heard back from them quickly. Our experience working with David and Tricia, was beyond exceptional. From the dedicated time and attention that they gave us during the planning and design phase, to the exceptional follow through during the install and after. We were thinking about remodeling our kitchen and came upon the beautiful AKD showroom on M-59 and decided to stop in. Met designer Dave Nickerson who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Dave and his assistant, Trisha, helped us design our new kitchen and were ALWAYS available to speak to us and answer our questions. If they weren’t, they returned emails and calls ASAP. AKD’s parent company, MJ Whelan, installed our cabinets and couldn’t have been more prompt and professional. Any issues that came up were taken care of immediately and without question by AKD or Whelan and superintendent Chris Huber. Randy, the carpenter who did our install, was fantastic as were his assistants James and Joel. The quality of Randy’s work was top notch. And a shout out to our plumber Jim who was fantastic, as well as the counter guys from Lakeside Surfaces.
